"Captain!"
Watching the seawater around them gradually change color,
Chen Hongxing realized something was wrong. He lunged toward Wang Anyi, using his own body as a shield.
"Captain, are you all right?!"
"I'm fine. Move."
Wang Anyi shoved Chen Hongxing aside with his other hand and gritted his teeth.
"I was just bitten by a bug. It's nothing serious—and those people are smart, too. They're not going to kill us just yet."
With that,
Wang Anyi turned to look north.
Two small boats were speeding toward them from that direction. One was the light-armed patrol boat the Rabbits had spotted earlier. The other was unfamiliar; it was probably a ship's launch, put out from some warship.
That direction also faced Wang Anyi's right arm, so there was no doubt the shooter had come from one of the two boats.
But compared with that relatively easy question to answer, Wang Anyi was more concerned about something else.
Namely:
Where had this PPS-43 come from?
The Soviets?
Or
some other force trying to frame them?
The PPS-43 was nowhere near as famous or widely produced as the AK47, but as a classic weapon, it had still been manufactured and circulated in large numbers.
More than a million had been produced before it went out of production, and it was hard to count how many countries and factions had them, openly or covertly.
So trying to determine where the enemy came from based on this gun alone was still rather difficult.
Regardless, the gunfire and Wang Anyi being hit both sent the same message: someone was ready to resort to extremes at any moment.
Those people were only holding on to the barest shred of reason. No one could say whether the next shot might be aimed a little higher, shifting from Wang
