Akira met Miroku in the Land of Demons and agreed to investigate a way to end Mōryō’s immortality after hearing about the miko’s burden and the Otsutsuki. At Mōryō’s sealed shrine, Akira’s Secret Guards killed Yomi and his men, and Akira prepared to confront Mōryō.

• Akira sent a Shadow Clone to meet Miroku at the shrine, where she asked him to save Shion from the miko’s tragic fate in exchange for the miko’s land and shrine.

On January 2, Year 56 of Konoha, the village forces surrounded the Uchiha Clan Land while Danzo and Orochimaru led Root toward Kitagawa Mountain Castle. Shisui and the Uchiha elites ambushed them, and the battle began with Mihara pressing Orochimaru underground.

• Iruka kept Sasuke, Naruto, and the other students at the Eighth Training Ground for a cookout beneath a blood-red full moon.
• Sarutobi Hiruzen and the Elder Council sealed the Uchiha Clan Land and Guard Division Building inside a concealed three-layer barrier, deploying forces in a triangular formation.
• Danzo, Orochimaru, Root, and Shimura Clan ninja converged on Kitagawa Mountain Castle to seize Sharingan and Uchiha corpses.

• Exploding Puppets and poison gas devastated the Uchiha Clan Land, leaving Sarutobi Hiruzen’s force with only a few fighters still able to fight.

• Explosives destroyed the Guard Division building, killing Koharu, Sarutobi Hiruzen’s son, and numerous ninja, while Sarutobi Hiruzen escaped with help from his Shadow Guards.

• Akira showed the Konoha ninja evidence of Danzo’s Sharingan, Wood Release, and cooperation with Orochimaru, then declared that the Uchiha Clan was dissolving its alliance with the Senju Clan and leaving Konoha.
• After Akira and the Uchiha vanished as Shadow Clones, Sarutobi Hiruzen ordered an attack on Kitagawa City, but Senju Cloud, Hiashi Hyuga, and Shikaku Nara urged caution and called for a Jonin meeting.

• Dongni Xiaomu reported that 1,632 elite ninja had been killed, leaving Sarutobi Hiruzen’s forces badly weakened and unable to easily control Konoha’s major clans.
• Akira’s group left Konoha because the Uchiha would face opposition from other clans, Konoha’s forces, Tsunade, Jiraiya, and the Land of Fire’s Daimyo if they tried to take power.

After leaving Konoha, Uchiha Itachi was ambushed by Izumi and her allies, who used her Mangekyo ability to attack his soul as well as his body. Just as their coordinated assault seemed about to defeat him, a Wood Release attack distracted them and Itachi disappeared.

• Uchiha Itachi awakened Sasuke's eyes, arranged a safeguard involving the Sarutobi Clan refugees and Konohamaru, then left Konoha.
