"Alive?" Rhaenyra's voice sharpened.
"Daemon, I am the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms!
"I am Father's heir!"
"I won't run!"
"You'd rather die?!" Daemon's voice rose as well.
"Or watch our children die?!"
Rhaenyra's face went pale, not from fear, but fury.
When anger reached its peak, the blood drained from one's face completely, leaving only that sheet of white.
"Daemon." She called his name.
"You're becoming more and more cowardly."
"What exactly are you afraid of?"
Daemon's face froze.
Not for an instant. It truly froze.
Every muscle in his face locked up. Even his eyes stopped blinking.
That expression lasted only a second.
But Rhaenyra saw it. So did Xiao Mei and Adam.
"I'm not afraid," Daemon said, but his voice was no longer as steady as before, as though cracks had formed in it.
"You are afraid." Rhaenyra took a step forward, lifted her chin, and stared fixedly into his eyes.
"Are you afraid of Aemond?"
Daemon's pupils suddenly contracted.
The next second, he swept out his hand.
The wine cup on the table before him flew away.
Thrown with Daemon's force, it shot through the air in a swift, sharp silver arc and smashed against the distant stone wall.

It shattered.
Dark red wine splashed across the stone wall and ran down it like a pool of blood.
"I'm not afraid of him!" Daemon roared.
The roar exploded through the stone hall, making the maid in the corner, who held Aegon the Younger, flinch and clutch the queen's child tighter.
Daemon's chest heaved violently.
Daemon's eyes were bloodshot. His once peerlessly handsome face was now twisted like that of a madman, not because of madness, but from the furious humiliation of having his sore spot exposed.
