Apparently afraid she might feel shy, Ye Chenyang put it in a tactful way that still made his meaning perfectly clear.
For some reason, even though she had been prepared for this, Jiang Mian still felt her eyes sting when he actually said those words.
She had thought she could keep her composure and, just like always, pretend to be shy as she said yes.
But now, all thoughts of acting and planning were swept from her mind, leaving only her truest self.
Jiang Mian stood frozen in place, letting the warmth well up inside her.
As the seconds ticked by without a response, Ye Chenyang's heart sank a little.
Had he said something wrong?
Or did she want him to be more straightforward?
But when he saw the tears welling in Jiang Mian's eyes, it felt as though something had given his heart a gentle tug.
He said nothing. Slowly, he reached out and gently removed her glasses, his fingertips brushing over the damp corners of her eyes.
"Don't be afraid. It's just the two of us here. Whatever you're feeling, you can let it all out."
"Brother Ye, I, I..."
Jiang Mian's eyes stung even more. Her voice trembled, and her words came out in fits and starts.
"Hmm?"
"I-I'll say yes."
"Okay."
With her answer, Ye Chenyang grew bolder.
Just as Jiang Mian had wrapped her arms around him yesterday, he gently drew her into his embrace, resting one hand on her back and giving it a soft pat.
She didn't resist. In fact, she instinctively hugged him back, even as she screamed inside.
So embarrassing, so embarrassing, so embarrassing!
What were these tears?!
Stop already!
She simply squeezed her eyes shut and buried her face in Ye Chenyang's chest, petulantly rubbing her tears against his shirt.
