Next Day Noon, Shrek Academy Sports Field.
The blazing sun hung high overhead, its scorching rays pouring freely onto the yellow earth of the sports field and sending up waves of distorted heat.
Yet this dazzling brightness brought not a shred of warmth. Instead, it made the chill and oppression hanging in the air feel even more piercing.
Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, Oscar, Ning Rongrong, and even Tang San, whose injuries had yet to heal, stood there stubbornly with Xiao Wu supporting him.
No one knew what method Yu Xiaogang had used, but he had temporarily calmed Oscar, who had nearly collapsed over the unbearable events of the previous night and had even wanted to die. Oscar was barely able to stand among the group.
The two stood at opposite ends of the line, one on the far left and the other huddled at the far right, as though an invisible chasm lay between them.
What truly left Oscar utterly devastated was not Dai Mubai's violation of him, but Ning Rongrong's gaze that morning—a look of undisguised disgust, as though she were looking at filthy garbage.
That look shattered the last trace of hope and illusion in his heart.
He knew that he and the little princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect were completely finished—unless Ning Rongrong one day went blind.
Footsteps approached. Flender hurried back with Shao Xin and several other teachers, exhaustion and disappointment written across their faces.
Yu Xiaogang immediately stepped forward and asked urgently, "Flender, how did it go? Did you find Zhu Qing?"
Flender Shook Head heavily. "We went too late. That child Zhu Qing... she was meticulous and deliberately concealed her tracks."
"We searched every mountain around here, but we couldn't even find a trace of her."
After saying that, he abruptly turned, his gaze cutting like knives toward Dai Mubai, who stood with his head lowered. "Look at what you've done!"
As Flender's suppressed fury erupted in rebuke, everyone on the sports field turned their eyes toward Dai Mubai—some filled with contempt, some with rage, some with complicated emotions.
Dai Mubai felt unbearably uncomfortable beneath those stares. He raised his chin and tried to defend himself, though his tone carried a nauseating sense of self-righteousness.
"Dean Flender, this... this can't all be blamed on me!"
"If anyone's to blame, it's that bitch Zhu Zhuqing for not knowing her place and refusing to cooperate with me!"
"If she'd obediently lain down and catered to me last night, if she'd been more compliant, would there have been so much trouble afterward?"
"She brought it on herself by running away!"
Even Xiao Wu, who was usually rather simple-minded, could not stand such utterly shameless words any longer!
"Dai Mubai! Bullshit!" Xiao Wu abruptly released Tang San, whom she had been supporting, stepped forward, and pointed at Dai Mubai's nose. Her entire body trembled with fury, and her rabbit eyes turned red.
"You... you're so shameless it makes me want to puke! Zhu Qing wouldn't cooperate with you? Why the hell should she cooperate with you?!"
"She's a person—a living, breathing person with thoughts of her own! She isn't your private plaything!"
Dai Mubai froze after being cursed by Xiao Wu's sudden outburst and instinctively wanted to argue back. But Xiao Wu gave him no chance, launching into a furious barrage of accusations.
"Zhu Qing is the calmest, hardest-working, and most clear-minded person here besides my brother!"
"She's the only sister here I felt I could truly speak honestly with!"
"Whenever something happened, she always relied on herself, gritted her teeth, and endured it without a word!"
"When did she ever take the initiative to provoke you?"
"When did she ever give you the wrong idea?!"
"And you? Other than using your filthy, disgusting thoughts to judge her and force her, what else can you do?!"
"When she was publicly humiliated like that at the Suo Tuo Great Soul Arena, where were you?"
"Not only did you not think about helping or protecting her, you used even more disgusting and despicable methods to bully her afterward!"
"Dai Mubai, let me tell you this: you're a bigger bastard than Zhao Linchuan from the Soul Arena! You're even more contemptible!"
The more Xiao Wu spoke, the more agitated she became, her chest heaving violently. "I'm telling you, Dai Mubai! Zhu Qing leaving Shrek isn't her loss—it's her good fortune! It's her freedom!"
"Staying here and facing scum like you every day, scum who only thinks with his lower half, would be the greatest torment and insult to her!"
"'Obediently lie down'? Keep dreaming!"
"If Zhu Qing had actually lain down for you, that would have been a betrayal of all the suffering she'd endured over the years, and of the conviction in her heart!"
"She did right to beat you last night! And she did even more right to run away today!"
"If I were her, I wouldn't have just slapped you a few times. I would've used Netherworld Hundred Claws to scratch that disgusting face of yours to pieces and turn you into a real eunuch tiger!"
"You...!" Dai Mubai's face alternated between green and white under Xiao Wu's storm-like tirade.
He had never imagined that Xiao Wu, who usually seemed lively and innocent, could be so sharp-tongued now. Every word struck straight at his sore spots. His lips trembled with rage, yet he could not form a single complete rebuttal.
Ning Rongrong, standing nearby, silently nodded as well.
Zhu Zhuqing had been the only person at Shrek Academy with whom she could exchange a few words and feel slightly less out of place.
Now that even she had left, Ning Rongrong only felt that this rotten place had become even more suffocating. There was not even anyone left for her to confide in.
She looked at Dai Mubai and spat out a few words in a Low Voice. "A sick tiger who'll eat anything."
"You... you all..." Dai Mubai's fingers trembled as he pointed back and forth between Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong, so furious that he could barely speak coherently.
"What I do to my fiancée is our business!"
"Who are you two outsiders to point fingers and gossip about it?!"
It was as though he had found some twisted justification. His voice suddenly rose, filled with absurd self-righteousness.
"Besides, Zhu Zhuqing has been my fiancée ever since she awakened her Martial Soul! It was decided by the Star Luo Imperial Family!"
"She's a resource and support on my path of cultivation!"
"How I use my own resource, when I use it, and how I use it—is that any of your business!?"
"Pah!" Ning Rongrong spat directly, the contempt on her face nearly overflowing. "You truly are a complete bastard! A beast worse than pigs and dogs!"
"You treat shamelessness as a matter of course, Dai Mubai. You've really opened my eyes!"
Even Tang San, who had remained silent the entire time, could not help frowning. "Mubai, say less. This time... you really went too far."
"Little San? Even... even you think so?" Dai Mubai looked at Tang San in disbelief, then turned toward Ma Hongjun and Oscar, who did not dare meet his eyes. Fury and grievance at being isolated surged up in his chest.
He simply gave up trying to salvage the situation and shouted, "Fine! Fine! Since all of you think I'm the one in the wrong, since you're all pointing your spears at me, then I won't keep covering for them anymore!"
