"The match was starting. Kamishiro of Josei Shonan was serving."
Kamishiro's face was expressionless as he looked across at Ryoma, then tossed the ball into the air.
He hit an ordinary serve, sending the ball toward Ryoma.
Ryoma spotted the opening in Kamishiro's stance, swung, and returned the ball for a clean point.
"Seigaku scores, 15–0."
Every point afterward went the same way. Kamishiro hit nothing but ordinary serves, and after Ryoma returned them, he seemed unable to keep up.
Ryoma scored on each return, and after four points, Kamishiro had lost his service game.

Seigaku's players were glad to break their opponent's serve so quickly. At this rate, they figured they could get to Kawamura's shop for sushi early.
Even Coach Ryuzaki, watching from the coaches' seats, was disappointed by how easily they had scored against Josei Shonan's Second Singles player.
Coach Hanamura, on the other hand, wasn't fazed at all by losing the first game. She still wore the same smile.
"Looks like Kamishiro is getting serious."
"He's going to use Phantom Style this soon?"
The Josei Shonan players watching from the sidelines had seen Kamishiro use the exact same motion on every serve from the first game onward. They understood what he was trying to do.
At the start of the second game, Ryoma didn't use an Outer Spin Serve. Even so, his ordinary serves scored points just as easily.
"Ryoma still looks pretty relaxed."
"Yeah. That Kamishiro guy doesn't seem as impressive as everyone says."
After watching Ryoma take two points in a row, the Seigaku players thought the match was going smoothly.
In the third game, Kamishiro served with the same motion as in
