"A Simple Check-In" (1)
Gelman had just woken up, and he did feel exhausted. Taking this chance to get some proper rest was a good idea.
However, he needed to check in with the Post Carriage Group.
So, after the Doctor left, Gelman asked Knuckle to find his phone for him. Thankfully, it hadn't been damaged. He had quite a few missed calls and unanswered text messages from the past few days.
He typed out a message and sent it to the Post Carriage Group.
"I'm fine. Three days ago, I ran into Feitan and Franklin of the Phantom Troupe and killed them. I'm recovering in a safe place now."
Gelman had stated it so casually, but his message hit the Post Carriage Group like cold water splashed into a pan of hot oil, setting everyone off.
Biscuit furiously sent question marks, filling the screen.
In between, Wing, Shizuku, and Shubika managed to get a few replies in. But Biscuit was sending question marks so fast that their messages flashed by too quickly to read before they were pushed offscreen.
Three seconds later, just as Gelman was about to put down his phone, Biscuit called him.
Shoto noticed Gelman was about to talk to someone he knew. Thoughtfully, he stood up and led Knuckle with him. "We'll be out in the hallway," he told Gelman before leaving the room.
Only Gelman remained in the hospital room. The only sounds he could hear were the beeping of electronic equipment, the whir of a fan, and his phone ringing.
"What's wrong?" Gelman answered.
"You're asking me what's wrong?!" Biscuit shouted from the other end, sounding both shocked and worried. "Weren't you headed to the World Tree? How did you suddenly run into the Phantom Troupe?"
"It was an accident." Gelman then explained
