Chapter 113: "One-Star Hunter Gelman" (Part Two)
Knuckle, Shoto, and Pam were all quite capable, and they were growing quickly, too.
They just needed an opportunity—one to accomplish something significant.
But that opportunity had yet to come. Gelman, on the other hand, had seized his chance to become a "One-Star Hunter" so quickly. Thinking of this, the three apprentices lowered their heads and fell silent.
Morel sensed the silence from the back seats and burst out laughing. "Don't let it get to you. Nobu and I aren't in a hurry about things like that. What matters most is that you keep building a solid foundation."
"Pam."
Nobu met Pam's raised eyes in the rearview mirror.
"Morel and I took you on as apprentices not so you could become 'Two-Star or Three-Star Hunters,' but because we saw your talent and hard work. Understand?"
"I under..." Pam's eyes lit up. In her excitement, she bit her tongue. "I understand!"
Knuckle and Shoto also answered resolutely from the back seat. "We'll keep working hard, teacher!"
Morel and Nobu sat in front, both smiling faintly.
Gelman continued gazing at the scenery outside the window.
That evening, the SUV pulled into the underground parking garage of a hospital in another city, and Gelman was transferred inside.
After completing the mission, Nobu left with Pam, even declining Morel's invitation to have a few drinks and a bite to eat.
As for Morel and his apprentices, they stayed at the hospital to help keep watch.

Gelman received three pieces of good news from Morel.
First, the doctors had finally decided Gelman had made a full recovery and could be discharged. Even if his recovery had been beyond anything they could explain, the facts were the facts.
