"Like a Hundred Ghosts on the March"
Gelman was forced to join the card game. He played several rounds with the three women, putting up some stakes, and lost every one.
Trait: Bad Gambler — Highlighted!
Biscuit laughed at him. "Gelman, your card skills are awful!"
"Exactly," Menchi chimed in. "Lucky for you, we weren't betting much. Otherwise, you'd have lost your entire fortune."
Shizuku shook her head too. "You're terrible."
Gelman didn't care about winning or losing, and he didn't mind being mocked. Since they'd dragged him over to play cards, he might as well be a faithful prop.
Several hours passed amid the noisy game.
At last, everyone lost interest in playing cards—except Shizuku, who still hadn't conclusively proved she was a "master bluffer."
Once the other two had lost interest, the game broke up, and the four of them went their separate ways.
Some time later, Gelman was playing Minesweeper on his phone when he suddenly heard a series of heavy footsteps.
Hearing such footsteps in the "wilderness" wasn't unusual. The place was full of giant beasts like the Walking Dead, and when they moved, it was like mountains were shifting and seas were churning.
Sounds like that occasionally rang out in the night, and everyone had grown used to them.
The reason Gelman paid attention to these footsteps was that they were closer than usual. More followed, converging on them.
The rumbling steps rang clearly through the otherwise tranquil night. The cave trembled faintly, like it was being shaken by a string of aftershocks.
Almost simultaneously, all five members of the Gelman Squad noticed what was happening and spread their En to investigate.
What they sensed was a group of Undead Disease Giant Beasts approaching them.
"Could this be another 'night raid'?" Biscuit frowned.
