Gelman already had a plan in mind.
He reached inside his black robe, unzipped it, and took out a box. Opening it revealed a stack of sturdy cards marked with the English name of Greed Island.
"Before coming here, my companions prepared a few things for me."
He drew out the cards one by one.
"After these cards are used, they can conjure certain things or produce specific effects. Some contain food from the Gourmet Hunter, while others can directly relieve pressure. I'll make use of them."
Zeno chuckled twice.
"Looks like you're not going to give up this fight easily... Very well. We wish you luck."
Half an hour later, the Dark Crown and Torment status indeed disappeared, but that wasn't the point.
That evening, Gelman used the Greed Island cards to unseal the dishes Menchi and Buhara had prepared earlier and set them on the table, though they were for his consumption alone.
After that, he used another card to summon the Fragrant Hair Girl, who continuously gave off a scent that relieved pressure.
He also tested the experimental cards Doon and List had made, modeled after Biscuit's Magic Beautician Cookie.
Since they were still experimental, they were nowhere near as effective as the real Magic Beautician Cookie, but they were better than nothing.
Because of his Resilience trait, all of Gelman's pressure-relief treatments were amplified.
That let him keep his Pressure Value below the 100-point Torment threshold before the fight began the next day.
At the start of the day, he tried fighting without using Chaos Roar, but Netero's Hundred-Type Guanyin thoroughly shut him down, leaving him nearly suffocated.
So he had no choice
