Gelman explained, "Under normal conditions, the fastest voyage from here to the Dark Continent would take more than half a year—and that's assuming nothing interfered."
"So we need to 'blink'?" Shizuku tilted her head.
"Right." Gelman repeated what the Guide captain had told them. "The entire Ferry Ghost Ship makes a long-distance jump every two hours."
"Like your teleportation?"
"Exactly. After making nearly ten jumps over the course of a day and night, the Ferry Ghost Ship will reach our destination."
"So we don't have to do anything? We can just stay in the cabin?" Shizuku adjusted her heavy Black-rimmed Glasses.
"That's right," Gelman replied patiently.
Shizuku nodded, satisfied that she understood.
"Look." Morel had spotted something new. "You've got to see this!"
Gelman turned and moved over beside Morel to look outside.
Shizuku and Biscuit, meanwhile, wordlessly went to another porthole to take a look.
Light... They were seeing light in the deep sea. Multicolored radiance reflected in their eyes.

One bizarre giant sea creature after another swam around the ship, drifting slowly forward like sea turtles.
There were squid with tentacles dangling like hyacinths, monstrous fish with wide, long mouths clamped shut, and sea serpents that stretched beyond sight...
Strangest of all, they all had transparent outer shells. Everyone could see the organs inside them, and those jumbled organs were the source of the light on the ocean floor.
