Ch. 41Demon from Hell

Gelman and Shizuku slaughtered the gang members and confronted Sick Dog and Porcupine, the Shadow Beasts sent by the Ten Dons. After identifying the Nen abilities of their new opponents, the pair split up to attack, and Porcupine began trying to outmaneuver Shizuku.

  • Gelman and Shizuku killed every gang member, including a wounded survivor who asked if they were demons from hell.
  • Gelman sensed two approaching Nen users and warned Shizuku as Sick Dog and Porcupine arrived.
  • Sick Dog accused them of killing Shanzhi and threatened them, while Shizuku said neither she nor Gelman had close relatives or friends.
  • Gelman identified Sick Dog's reinforced teeth and Porcupine's hardened hair, surprising the two Shadow Beasts.
  • Sick Dog and Porcupine decided to attack without hesitation, with Porcupine targeting Shizuku and studying her vacuum cleaner.

Ch. 42The Shadow Beast Who Was Killed in Turn

Shizuku and Gelman killed the Shadow Beasts Porcupine and Sick Dog after they attacked them. Shizuku accepted that she was now entangled in Gelman’s conflict, and Gelman looted cash from the corpses before they left.

  • Shizuku used the Evil Tenderfoot to blind Porcupine and pierce his eye, killing him.
  • Sick Dog charged Gelman but was cut in half by Gelman’s Meat Saw and died after Gelman waited to make sure he was dead.
  • Shizuku told Gelman that the gangs would likely target her, so working with him might be profitable.
  • Gelman searched the corpses and collected their cash, explaining that his expensive tastes meant he often needed more money.

Ch. 43Changing the Rendezvous Point

After killing Sick Dog and Porcupine, Gelman and Shizuku fled Yorknew City and changed their rendezvous with Biscuit to Saba City. Four Shadow Beasts tracked them to their hotel, where Gelman prepared to fight three of them while Bat went after Shizuku.

  • Gelman and Shizuku looted the bodies and cars, then drove out of Yorknew City and rested in another city before boarding an airship.
  • Gelman told Biscuit they were changing the rendezvous point, and she warned him that the Shadow Beasts might keep hunting them.
  • Gelman and Shizuku arrived in Saba City and checked into the Dore Port Hotel to wait for Biscuit.
  • Leech, Worm, and Owl confronted Gelman at the hotel and said Bat would attack Shizuku in the next room.
  • Gelman finished his dessert, stood up, and prepared to face the three Shadow Beasts.

Ch. 44Distinguishing the Main Attack from the Feint

Gelman fought Worm, Leech, and Owl at once, using his knowledge of their abilities and a newly conjured Flamethrower to disrupt their coordinated attack. As he focused on burning Owl, Worm burst through the floor and pulled Gelman down to the level below.

  • Worm, Leech, and Owl attacked Gelman together, while Gelman assessed their abilities and identified their first moves as feints.
  • Gelman blocked Leech's leeches and conjured a Flamethrower to catch Owl approaching with the Great Cotswold Scarf.
  • Worm warned the others to retreat, but Owl was too close and Gelman dodged the scarf before setting Owl and the cloth on fire.
  • Leech threw more leeches to cover Owl, but Gelman ignored them and attacked Owl with another Flame Snake.
  • Worm burrowed through the floor, grabbed Gelman's leg, and dragged him through the opening to the floor below.

Ch. 45Worm and Leech Misjudged the Situation

Leech and Worm fought Gelman after Owl was badly burned, but Gelman outmaneuvered and killed Worm. Leech fled through the flames as Gelman turned to pursue him.

  • Leech left the severely burned Owl behind and jumped down to help Worm fight Gelman.
  • Worm and Leech realized they had underestimated Gelman and faced his advance behind a Winged Shield.
  • Gelman used Leech as bait, anticipating that Worm would attack from beneath the floor.
  • Gelman crushed Worm's left arm, dragged him from the floor, and split his head with the Meat Saw.
  • Leech slipped on glass and fell into the flames, catching fire as Gelman pursued him.

Ch. 46Biscuit Arrived for Their Appointment with Her Hair in a Single Ponytail

After Gelman and Shizuku killed their attackers, they escaped the hotel and met Biscuit at Jelba Port. Shizuku piloted a fishing boat out to sea as Gelman and Biscuit discussed the mafia’s likely response.

  • Gelman checked his Hunter Badge after killing Leech and Worm, then Shizuku pulled him up and confirmed she had killed Owl.
  • Gelman and Shizuku left the hotel before the crowd arrived and relocated to Jelba Port, where Gelman messaged Biscuit about the new rendezvous point.
  • Biscuit arrived with a single ponytail and told Gelman that the Ten Dons had withdrawn his bounty after six Shadow Beasts died.
  • Gelman said he would deal with the remaining Shadow Beasts if they kept pursuing him, while Biscuit expected the mafia to recruit replacements and hire professionals.
  • Gelman asked Shizuku to pilot their fishing boat, and she steered it out of the harbor into the darkness.

Ch. 47Magical Beautician Miss Cookie's Comforting Experience

Biscuit used Miss Cookie the Magical Beautician to help Gelman relieve the unusual stress he had built up. Gelman fell asleep during the massage as Shizuku steered the boat, and Biscuit asked her to keep it steady so he could rest.

  • Biscuit explained that the Ten Dons might hire the Zoldyck Family to target Gelman, while Gelman noted he could escape with his Lantern if he survived an attack.
  • Gelman told Biscuit he wanted to experiment with beauty treatment as a way to release his accumulated stress, then lay facedown on a bench.
  • Biscuit persuaded Gelman to remove his shirt and examined his scars before summoning Miss Cookie the Magical Beautician.
  • Biscuit instructed Miss Cookie to massage Gelman with Peach Blossom Breath and explained the process to him.
  • Gelman relaxed and fell asleep within ten minutes, while Miss Cookie continued the massage.
  • Biscuit told Shizuku to steer the boat steadily so Gelman could sleep, and Shizuku asked to try the treatment later.

Ch. 49Miss Cookie's Pressure Release

After a restful night at sea, Gelman tested how much Biscuit’s Peach Blossom Breath reduced his Pressure and worked out how quickly its effect recovered. He asked Biscuit to repeat the treatment on a precise schedule, while Shizuku requested a massage of her own.

  • Biscuit woke before Shizuku and Gelman, then finished her beauty routine while they slept.
  • Shizuku and Gelman woke and said they had both slept well after Biscuit’s treatment.
  • Gelman checked the Hunter Badge and saw that his Pressure had fallen from 65 to 41 after the previous night’s session.
  • Biscuit gave Gelman another Peach Blossom Breath treatment, and his Pressure fell from 41 to 26.
  • Gelman inferred that the treatment’s effect recovered by one point per hour and asked Biscuit to treat him again in twenty-four hours and then two hours later.
  • Shizuku asked Biscuit for another massage, but Biscuit refused to make Miss Cookie her personal masseuse.

Ch. 50Gelman's Mastery of His Methods

Gelman offered Biscuit payment for her help, but she said she wanted to learn the secret that had drawn her to him. After Shizuku revealed that Gelman had kept the Dark Continent from Biscuit, he invited them both to go there with him in four days, leaving Biscuit torn between Netero’s warning and her curiosity.

  • Gelman offered to pay Biscuit whatever she asked, but Biscuit said she did not need money and wanted to help him because she liked him.
  • Biscuit claimed she was a twelve- or thirteen-year-old girl, and Gelman and Shizuku accepted her explanation.
  • Biscuit said Gelman’s secret and the Chameleon Stone had made her suspect he was connected to the Dark Continent.
  • Shizuku revealed that Gelman had told her about the Dark Continent but had not told Biscuit, and Gelman said the knowledge had to stay between the three of them.
  • Gelman explained that travel to the Dark Continent involved four requirements and invited Biscuit and Shizuku to go with him in four days.
  • Biscuit weighed Netero’s warning against her desire to explore the Dark Continent.

Ch. 51Meeting the Nen Exorcist

Gelman met Abengane, a rare Nen Exorcist, to ask him to remove the Negative Trait that came as the price of Gelman’s Nen ability. After hearing that Gelman’s situation might be exorcised, Abengane accepted payment and agreed to help.

  • Biscuit agreed to travel with Gelman, and the next day she and Shizuku went shopping while Gelman went alone to meet Abengane.
  • Gelman climbed to Abengane’s cabin in the woods and asked him to remove his Negative Trait.
  • Abengane explained that exorcised Nen remained until certain conditions were met, and warned that its user’s death could turn it into a dangerous Grudge.
  • Gelman revealed that the Negative Trait was the price of his own Nen ability, and Abengane judged that he could probably exorcise it.
  • Abengane cited Gelman’s reputation as the G.G. Killer, named his price, and agreed to exorcise the Nen after Gelman paid a deposit.

Ch. 52You Also Don't Want Anyone Else to Know You're a Nen Exorcist, Do You?

Gelman had Abengane exorcise one of the four Nen Beasts attached to him, but the dangerous ritual left three behind. Gelman pressed Abengane to agree to a long-term partnership, and Abengane reluctantly gave in after Gelman reminded him that he wanted his identity as a Nen Exorcist kept secret.

  • Abengane took Gelman into the woods and began an exorcism, summoning four grotesque Nen Beasts from a bonfire.
  • Gelman chose one Scarlet Nen Beast, and Abengane destroyed it before forcing the other three back into the flames.
  • Gelman confirmed that his compulsive overeating trait was gone and said he wanted another Scarlet Nen Beast exorcised.
  • Abengane refused Gelman's offer of a long-term partnership and said he could not exorcise Gelman again for a while.
  • Gelman urged Abengane to work with him and pointed out that he did not want others to know he was a Nen Exorcist, so Abengane reluctantly agreed.

Ch. 53January 21, two days after meeting Abengane, the Nen Exorcist

Gelman returned to the hotel after seeing a psychologist about his narcolepsy and discussed the treatment plan with Biscuit and Shizuku. The three prepared for their journey and read Gelman’s edited version of Dark Continent Anecdotes, leaving their departure planned for the day after tomorrow.

  • Gelman told Biscuit and Shizuku that a hospital had referred him to a psychologist, who said ordinary therapy would not help and recommended a regular schedule, exercise, positive mental imagery, and medication.
  • Biscuit reviewed the psychologist’s advice and told Gelman to follow it and manage his narcolepsy himself.
  • Biscuit said she and Shizuku had bought most of the items on the list and added a few things before their planned departure.
  • Shizuku said she did not completely trust Gelman but agreed that some things could only be confirmed firsthand.
  • Gelman showed Biscuit and Shizuku his edited version of Dark Continent Anecdotes, and they read it together.

Ch. 54Five Great Disasters and Hopes

Biscuit questioned Gelman about why he had returned from the Dark Continent without encountering any disasters or hopes, and he explained that his Lantern let him travel there without using the Gatekeeper or Guide. He agreed to prepare an intuitive danger-rating list for the creatures he had encountered, while Biscuit cautioned that it should only serve as a reference.

  • Biscuit asked Gelman why he had brought back no disasters and whether he could rate the creatures he had encountered.
  • Gelman explained that his Lantern let him travel directly to the Dark Continent, so he had never encountered the Gatekeeper, the Guide, or any disasters and hopes.
  • Gelman compared his Lantern to a Greed Island Game Console, and Biscuit understood that it enabled his unusual journey at a personal cost.
  • Biscuit agreed that Gelman could rate creatures using his Hunter instincts, as long as she and Shizuku treated the list as a reference.
  • Gelman described Hisoka's personality traits for the Nen categories, and Biscuit warned them not to assume those traits determined someone's Nen ability.

Ch. 55Gelman's Personal Opinion

Gelman explained his personal ranking system for Nen users and discussed the uncertain fate of Don Freecss. He then revealed his doubts about why his Nen ability seemed to draw him toward the Dark Continent, while confirming that he still planned to go.

  • Gelman outlined ranks from Traveler to Unknown and explained what abilities and experience each rank represented.
  • Gelman placed himself, Biscuit, Shizuku, Wing, the Shadow Beasts, and the Phantom Troupe among the Elite, and identified Netero as a Master and a former Champion.
  • Shizuku asked about Don Freecss, and Gelman explained that Don was Ging Freecss's ancestor and had traveled to the Dark Continent roughly three hundred years earlier.
  • Biscuit suggested Don might still be alive if he had obtained the All-Curing Herb and Nitolomi, though she said the theory had little support.
  • Gelman said he had avoided asking why one of his original Lanterns was on the Dark Continent and why he possessed his Nen ability.
  • Biscuit said Gelman seemed to be following something that wanted him to reach the Dark Continent, and Gelman silently looked toward the dark sky.

Ch. 56First Squad Departure

Gelman, Biscuit, and Shizuku began their expedition into the Dark Continent using Gelman’s Lantern. They arrived at Muddy Land, where Gelman recognized the northeastern side of Lake Möbius.

  • Gelman asked Biscuit and Shizuku one last time if they wanted to withdraw, and both chose to continue.
  • Gelman, Biscuit, and Shizuku prepared to depart before dawn, with Biscuit saying her Doctor contact would remain nearby.
  • Gelman summoned the Lantern and guided Biscuit and Shizuku in holding the little ghosts’ hands.
  • Gelman told the ghosts to take them to Muddy Land, and the Lantern teleported the three there.
  • Gelman found the Lord of Crows’ corpse missing and saw drag marks leading deeper into Muddy Land.
  • Gelman explained that the Six Continents were too small to span a time zone and identified their location as the northeastern side of Lake Möbius.

Ch. 57The Bone Crow

Gelman, Biscuit, and Shizuku encountered the Bone Crow, which had begun regenerating after Gelman killed the Lord of Crows. Biscuit and Shizuku fought the skeletal beasts it controlled while Gelman rushed toward the Bone Crow.

  • Biscuit confirmed that her phone's camera, recorder, and notes still worked, and the group agreed to wait out the Lantern's cooldown safely.
  • The Bone Crow emerged from the Reed Forest, and its cries summoned around twenty skeletal beasts from the mud.
  • Biscuit and Shizuku fought the Bone Puppets, smashing them apart as Biscuit explained that Shizuku's Evil Tenderfoot could not absorb them while they were moving.
  • Biscuit and Shizuku cleared a path, allowing Gelman to race past the Bone Puppets and leap toward the Bone Crow.

Ch. 58A Clean, Decisive Fight

Gelman defeated Bone Crow in the Muddy Land and gained Capacity and Pressure, then talked with Biscuit and Shizuku about Meteor City’s donations and their harsh attitudes toward outsiders. The chapter left Biscuit irritated after Gelman absent-mindedly agreed with both women while watching for danger.

  • Gelman dodged Bone Crow’s Nen attacks, closed in, and tore through its exposed organs with his Meat Saw and Blunderbuss.
  • Bone Crow sank into the mud, its remaining crows gathered nearby, and its Bone Puppets collapsed as Gelman’s Capacity rose from 21 to 24 and Pressure rose from 0 to 3.
  • Biscuit praised Gelman’s victory, while Gelman and Shizuku discussed the lack of spoils and Shizuku’s donations to Meteor City.
  • Biscuit asked why Meteor City’s people were kind to their own but indifferent to outsiders, and Shizuku said outsiders had treated them like livestock and garbage.
  • Shizuku told Biscuit she trusted her, and Biscuit asked whether Gelman trusted her too; Gelman agreed absent-mindedly while watching their surroundings, irritating Biscuit.

Ch. 59Shizuku's Loot Collection Battle

Shizuku used the Evil Tenderfoot to collect bones from the ground and swamp while Gelman and Biscuit guarded the area. After the swamp’s bones were gathered and the Teleport Lantern’s cooldown ended, the three continued north into a mountain forest.

  • Shizuku swallowed the scattered bones with the Evil Tenderfoot, and Biscuit suggested she could sell the rare bones to collectors.
  • Shizuku used the Evil Tenderfoot to pull bones from the swamp, including the Bone Crow’s skeleton, while Gelman burned the attacking Multi-eyed Crows.
  • Gelman explained that new beasts would likely fight over the cleared territory, and Shizuku described how the Evil Tenderfoot sorted swallowed items into separate batches.
  • Shizuku stopped collecting when the reachable bones were gone, and Biscuit recorded the events while Gelman stood guard.
  • When the Teleport Lantern was ready, Gelman, Biscuit, and Shizuku picked up their backpacks and continued north into a mountain forest.

Ch. 60The Direction of Gelman's Nen Ability Evolution

Gelman, Biscuit, and Shizuku fought the Carnivorous Flower Buds as Gelman explored ways to evolve his Nen ability. Biscuit advised him to use Kite’s weapon-based ability as a model, and Gelman began considering what new restraints and vows could strengthen his Hunter Badge.

  • Gelman warned Biscuit and Shizuku about Carnivorous Flower Buds, which attacked them from the woods.
  • Gelman decided the group should hunt the flower buds, and Shizuku and Biscuit joined the fight.
  • Biscuit noticed that Gelman’s Ryu was changing and asked whether he was trying to evolve his Nen ability.
  • Gelman explained that he wanted to develop a Conjuration ability with Transmutation as a secondary system.
  • Biscuit cited Kite’s Crazy Slots as an example and explained how restraints and vows gave its weapons powerful abilities.
  • Gelman began considering how to strengthen the Hunter Badge with additional restraints and vows while Biscuit returned to clearing the path.

Ch. 61Pursuing

Gelman entered a hidden cave after an unseen trap transported him away from Biscuit and Shizuku. He searched the bone-filled tunnels and encountered a swarm of rats emerging from a hole in the wall.

  • Gelman found Biscuit and Shizuku missing and traced their disappearance to a shrinking oval hole in the ground.
  • Gelman touched the hole and was transported into a pitch-black cave tunnel filled with animal bones.
  • Gelman concluded that he and his companions had been transported to different places, then walked through the cave using a flashlight.
  • Gelman heard small creatures moving through the stone walls and spotted glowing eyes as rats burst from an oval hole and attacked him.
