Chapter 51: You Also Don't Want Anyone Else to Know You're a "Nen Exorcist," Do You?
"Come with me outside." Abengane put out the firewood in the fireplace and pointed to the woods beyond the window. "My exorcism will go more smoothly in nature's embrace."
"Sure," Gelman replied, following Abengane out the door.
They walked along a cobblestone path into the woods, where branches flourished like a profusion of flowers. They stopped in a clearing dotted here and there with weeds and wildflowers.
"Mr. Gelman, if you'd come in the second half of the year, this place would be covered in flowers. It's beautiful. I wish I could share that sight with you."
Gelman showed little interest and gave a perfunctory nod.
Abengane smiled, then cleared the weeds and wildflowers from the clearing. He built and lit a small bonfire, and pale smoke drifted into the air.
"Mr. Gelman, please stay still now." He took a homemade Voodoo Doll from his clothes and gripped it in both hands, his expression turning grave. "I'm about to begin."
"Okay. I'm ready," Gelman replied.
Abengane began murmuring an incantation. His words were indistinct, but Gelman could just make out words like "Forest Spirit" and "power."
A sinister, icy wind stirred through the forest, chilling them to the bone, but Gelman didn't flinch.
The bonfire before them suddenly flared with a "whoosh," sending gray smoke swirling into the air like snowflakes.
Before long, a hideous monster crawled out of the eerie flames.
"It's appeared," Abengane warned him.
It was a Nen Beast conjured by Abengane, but its true owner was Gelman. It was a manifestation of his Trait.
As soon as the first terrifying Nen Beast poked its head out, the bonfire went "whoosh, whoosh, whoosh" three more times, and three more equally grotesque
