Following the King's attack command, Skilled Dark Magician unleashed a black orb at Hidden in the Painting, shattering it.

Bakura cried out in pain.

"That hurt..."

Bakura didn't dare to play recklessly anymore.

"My turn ends."

The King also ended his turn.

"My turn, draw!"

[Bakura Hand: 5→6]

This time, Bakura learned his lesson.

"I summon [Jirai Gumo] in Defense Position from my hand."

Demonic hands and a head crawled out onto his field.

Then he picked up three cards from his hand.

"Next, I activate the Continuous Spell, [Dark Door]."

Both players can only attack with one monster during the Battle Phase.

As the King's words fell, the black orb on Skilled Dark Magician's other shoulder lit up.

Seeing the Magic Counters increase, Bakura frowned.

"Huh!? I see..."

He muttered softly, as if receiving some kind of message.

"Then, I'll set two cards and end my turn."

Bakura covered his remaining two hand cards and ended his turn.

Chapter 23: Spirit Medium's Board

"My turn, draw!"

[Yugi Muto Hand: 2→3]

The King put away the card he just drew and placed another card from his hand onto the Duel Disk.

"I summon [Magician Knight Defender] in Defense Position from my hand."

A magician holding a giant shield was projected, standing guard in front of the King.

"The effect of [Magician Knight Defender] activates."

This card activates when it is successfully Normal Summoned. Place 1 Magic Counter on this card (max. 1).

The counter on the Defender's shield lit up.

"Battle! I attack [Jirai Gumo] with [Skilled Dark Magician]."

Skilled Dark Magician once again unleashed a black orb.

At this moment, King flipped over one of his face-down cards.

"And at this moment, I activate the Trap Card [Magician's Formation]."

This card can only be activated when an attack is declared by a Spellcaster monster you control or your opponent controls. Both players Special Summon 1 Spellcaster monster from their respective Decks with 2000 or less ATK in Attack Position.

Bakura immediately revealed a face-down card as well.

"Then, at this same moment, I activate the Trap Card [Chain Destruction]!"

This card can be activated when an opponent's monster declares an attack. Target 1 attacking monster; destroy it.

The Trap Card unleashed a beam of light towards Skilled Dark Magician.

"Useless! I activate the effect of [Magician Knight Defender]!"

Once per turn, when a Spellcaster monster on the field is destroyed, you can remove this many Magic Counters from your field instead.

Defender immediately stepped in front of Skilled Dark Magician, blocking the beam of light.

[Magician Knight Defender: Magic Counter 1 → 0]

"Tch! You anticipated my face-down card..."

Seeing this, Bakura couldn't help but click his tongue.

Then, King selected a card from his Deck.

"And by the effect of [Magician's Formation], I Special Summon [Black Magician] from my Deck in Attack Position."

Black Magician was then projected in front of him.

[Black Magician: ATK 1200]

"Then I Special Summon [White Robe Phantom Thief] from my Deck."

A "White Robe" phantom thief wearing a blue suit appeared.

"Since I'm missing a Trap Card on my field, [Skilled Dark Magician]'s ATK decreases."

At the same time, Skilled Dark Magician's attack landed, destroying Jirai Gumo.

There are no Battle Back rules now, so he could only continue attacking Jirai Gumo.

"Next, I activate the effect of [Black Magician], changing this card to Defense Position and placing one Magic Counter on [Magician Knight Defender]."

Defender gained a Magic Counter.

When this card and [Death Message] are gathered on your field in 4 types, you win the Duel.

: This effect activates at the end of the opponent's turn. From your hand or Deck, Special Summon 1 [Death Message] card in your Spell & Trap Zone in the order "D", "E", "A", "T", "H".

The letter "D" appeared on Bakura's field.

"Then, by the effect of [Spirit Medium's Board], I place [Death Message "E"] from my Deck."

He inserted a Continuous Spell into his Duel Disk, and another letter "E" appeared on his field.

"I tribute [Demon Dog Hachikukken]."
