Berserk Factor

In midair.

The Winged Gull paused, its blood-red eyes fixed on Drake.

It had only one thought now: kill its opponent!

After Luo Sa reached a certain height, his body suddenly began to dive, plunging toward the Allosaurus. He was actually giving up his aerial advantage to fight the Allosaurus head-on!

"Bring it on!"

Drake was delighted rather than alarmed. He braced himself, ready to take Luo Sa's attack head-on and find a chance to drag him down from the sky. Once they were on the ground, his opponent would be finished!

The Winged Gull picked up speed as it descended, like a shooting star streaking down from the sky. In an instant, it was right in front of the Allosaurus.

Drake's gaze sharpened. He clenched a fist, intending to overpower it with brute strength.

But just as he finished preparing, his opponent suddenly vanished!

Then he felt pain in his abdomen. Several bloody gashes had been torn into it.

"How is that possible?!"

Drake was utterly shocked, disbelief written all over his face. His opponent was moving so fast that he couldn't even see him!

He hurriedly turned around and, sure enough, saw his opponent climbing higher into the sky. From the looks of it, he seemed ready to try again.

This time, Drake didn't dare let his guard down. He stared intently at the Seagull plummeting through the air at tremendous speed.

The same thing happened again. Just as the Seagull was about to reach him, it vanished once more. Pain shot through him, and again he saw his opponent behind him!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The Winged Gull in the sky seemed tireless, attacking the Allosaurus again and again.

The Allosaurus had strength to spare, but couldn't catch sight of its opponent. Its body was injured time and again. Fortunately, its defenses were just as monstrous; otherwise, it would have fallen long ago!

The Winged Gull flew back into the sky once more. This time, it didn't attack again. Instead, it hovered in midair, panting heavily. It was clearly exhausted!

On the ground, Drake looked utterly wretched. There wasn't a single patch of uninjured skin on his body!

"Damn it! At that speed, without Observation Haki, there's no way I can keep up!"

Drake gritted his teeth, a sense of helplessness rising in his heart.

Fortunately, attacking had also cost his opponent a great deal of stamina. If this came down to endurance, he didn't think he would lose!

"Come on, then!"

The Allosaurus spoke, taunting the Winged Gull in the sky.

The Winged Gull's eyes turned fierce. This time, however, it didn't charge straight at him. Instead, it summoned the Flying Attribute energy throughout its body.

It beat its wings hard. A gale raged, gradually forming two Air Blades in front of it. In the sunlight, they gleamed with a chilling light!

Whoosh!

The two Air Blades shot forth, slicing through the air with a roar as if they were cutting it apart. Trailing a powerful burst of wind pressure, they slashed viciously toward the Allosaurus on the ground.

The Air Blades flashed past. Under Drake's shocked gaze, they struck both his arms.

Blood sprayed everywhere. The Allosaurus's body, its greatest source of pride, was cleaved open in an instant like paper, exposing deep white bones!

On closer inspection, fine cracks could be seen running through the exposed bones!

Aaargh!!!

A piteous roar rang out. Drake could no longer maintain his Allosaurus Form and reverted to human form, looking utterly miserable!

The Winged Gull's eyes gleamed with excitement. It hurtled downward, seemingly already envisioning its wings slicing its enemy in two!

"Luo Sa, stop!"

Suddenly, an anxious voice came from afar. Garp's figure raced toward them, black Armament Haki already coating his hands.

"Damn it! Stop!"

Drake looked terrified where he lay on the ground. For the first time, he felt that death was so close.

Just as he shut his eyes in despair, a sturdy figure suddenly appeared in front of him.

Then he saw the newcomer reach out with both hands and grab the Winged Gull's glowing white wings!

"Luo Sa, what's wrong? Wake up!"

Garp shouted anxiously. He could tell that Luo Sa was in terrible shape.

At Garp's words, the Winged Gull shuddered, but continued struggling violently.

"Luo Sa, it's Grandpa! It's Grandpa! Don't you recognize me anymore?" Garp continued to shout, his expression frantic.

"Damn it! Luo Sa absorbed too much of that mysterious energy. Just like those monsters, he's gone berserk!"

Zephyr had also arrived. His expression darkened as he looked at Luo Sa.

He never would have imagined that Luo Sa, a Zoan Devil Fruit user, could be affected by the Berserk Factor!

"Take him away from this island. Once he's away from here, Luo Sa should recover!"

Garp immediately nodded, picked Luo Sa up, and rushed toward the edge of the island!

"Pant, pant!"

Aboard the Marine warship, Luo Sa finally regained consciousness and began panting heavily.

"Luo Sa, are you all right?"

Garp's face lit up with delight as he asked, his voice full of concern.

"I'm fine. I'm just a little tired!"

Luo Sa shook his head. Remembering how out of control he had been, he still felt shaken.

"What was that?"

For once, fear showed in Luo Sa's eyes. He had nearly lost consciousness amid all the killing!

"It's a kind of Berserk Factor. It exists in Heavenly Pool and flows through the rivers across the whole island!"

"Luo Sa, have you been to Heavenly Pool?" Zephyr interjected, his expression grave.

"Yeah, I went there. I even drank some of the water. It tasted great, and it seemed to contain some kind of strange power."

Luo Sa's eyes flickered. Seven parts of what he said were true, and three were false.

"That explains it."

Zephyr breathed a sigh of relief. If that was the case, they had found the reason.

Zephyr knew about the mysterious power contained in the water. In fact, the main purpose of their Survival Trial was to obtain that power!

He just hadn't expected that the pool water could send a Zoan Devil Fruit user into a berserk state!

"By the way, you can't blame me for nearly killing Drake."

"I was already doing my best to hold myself back, but he kept taunting me. That's what finally sent me into a berserk state."

Garp nodded slightly, then suddenly grew solemn.

"That dead Monkey-Monkey Fruit user was Drake's childhood friend. It's only natural he'd act that way."

"And..."

"Were you the one who killed that Monkey-Monkey Fruit user?"

"Monkey-Monkey Fruit user?"

"I did kill a whole bunch of monkeys, but what Monkey-Monkey Fruit user? I've never heard of one!"

"Grandpa, don't tell me that Monkey-Monkey Fruit user turned into a monkey and mixed in with the troop?"

Luo Sa's heart stirred, and his eyes narrowed slightly.

"Uh..."

Garp opened his mouth, but in the end, couldn't think of anything to say. The surveillance footage hadn't shown that Monkey-Monkey Fruit user.

But when they cleaned up the battlefield, the Monkey-Monkey Fruit user's corpse had suddenly appeared among the bodies.

Come to think of it, that Monkey-Monkey Fruit user really might have been hiding among the troop and been accidentally killed by Luo Sa!
