Wolf Slaying Plan

Several days later, at Iron Blood Pass.

Lin Jin received an intelligence report sent back by a frontline reconnaissance soldier.

A Star Luo supply team, escorted by one Soul Ancestor, four Soul Ancestors, and several hundred soldiers, would pass through Black Snow Gorge in three days.

"Black Snow Gorge..." Lin Jin looked at the map, his brows drawing together slightly.

The place was named that because of its black-brown soil. Even snow that landed on the ground would turn black.

It was indeed an excellent location for an ambush, but the interlocking canyon structure also made it easy to be counter-ambushed.

Lei Ke pondered for a moment before saying, "The Star Luo Empire really won't give up, huh? Not long ago, you intercepted one of their supply teams, and now they're sending another."

"And this supply team is from Gray Rock City, the largest city in the Northern Border of the Star Luo Empire. That counts as a piece of military merit, too."

Lin Jin said solemnly, "Colonel Lei Ke, I don't think it's that simple. Think about it: I destroyed their supplies just a few days ago. How long has it been? Yet Star Luo is sending another team, and this one is from Gray Rock City."

"So I suspect this was deliberately released by the Star Luo Empire. I think their goal is to lure me into taking the bait."

Lei Ke said, "I know there may be a trap, but it could be both real and fake. If these supplies are truly as the intelligence report says, they'll be enough to support an offensive of moderate scale. Who knows how many of our brothers would die? So we have to stop them."

Lin Jin pressed his finger heavily against the spot marked "Black Snow Gorge" on the map and said solemnly, "Colonel Lei Ke, you're right. It's better to believe it exists than to assume it doesn't. We can't gamble with our brothers' lives."

His tone suddenly turned cold and murderous. "But if Star Luo wants to fish, we'll have to see whether they have the appetite for it—or whether the fish will drag them into the water!"

"What do you mean?" Lei Ke looked at him.

"If they're going to play along with the plan, then we'll play along even better!" A trace of madness flashed through Lin Jin's eyes.

"If this was carefully planned against me, that also means they understand me well enough. Based on how I've led troops in the past, they'll assume I'll bring only around a hundred men this time as well."

"This time, we'll do the opposite. I'll bring five hundred brothers, while Colonel Lei Ke leads several hundred men to ambush the key exits outside Black Blood Gorge. Once we confirm that there are ambush troops inside the canyon, we'll launch a powerful assault at once, attacking from both inside and out and trapping Star Luo's ambush troops instead."

Lin Jin led a hundred Blood Blades through the canyon like shadows. Everyone held their breath, their killing intent hidden beneath the surface.

Sure enough, a Star Luo transport convoy appeared ahead in a narrow section. It was fairly large and heavily guarded, with one Soul Ancestor and four Soul Elders stationed there.

"Captain, the cliffs on both sides..." A Tu, his assistant, lowered his voice.

Lin Jin nodded slightly. He had sensed the hidden aura as well.

As expected, it's a trap. But the supplies may be real too. He did not act immediately, instead carefully observing the convoy.

The more than twenty vehicles were heavy, their wheel tracks extremely deep. They did not look empty.

Star Luo really went all out. They're using real supplies as bait. Are they certain they can swallow me? Lin Jin sneered inwardly.

The hundred Blood Blades instantly dispersed, using the terrain to hide themselves.

Eventually, the Star Luo supply convoy entered a gourd-shaped stretch of terrain.

A sharp glint flashed through Lin Jin's eyes.

"Attack!"

At once, rocks and rolling logs came crashing down from both sides of the canyon. In an instant, more than half of the guards beside the supply vehicles were killed or wounded.

"Kill!" Lin Jin led the charge in a head-on clash with the Star Luo soldiers.

In an instant, only a dozen or so people remained in the Star Luo formation.

"What an elite unit of Blood Blades. What an impressive Young Wolf." The Star Luo Colonel sat atop a fine horse and spoke calmly. "But you came at just the right time. I've been waiting for you for a long while."

Lin Jin's brows furrowed. The smoothness of the operation had surprised him.

"Captain, something's wrong," A Tu, his assistant, said in a low voice.

Just then, a sudden change occurred!

"Fifth Soul Skill, Earth Shattering Roar!" A roar that shook the canyon rang out from behind Lin Jin.

Lin Jin immediately felt a Soul Power attack that shook his mind.

Half of the hundred Blood Blades instantly fell to the ground, clutching their ears.

"A Power System Soul King!" Lin Jin endured the discomfort and turned around. Behind him stood a burly middle-aged man, five optimally configured Soul Rings revolving around his body.

At the same time, two unfamiliar people appeared beside the Star Luo Colonel. They likewise had five Soul Rings around them.

"Young Wolf, this place will be your Burial Ground today." The leading Star Luo Soul King let out a cold laugh.

Lin Jin's gaze swept over them one by one, and he said with extraordinary calm, "To kill me, you sent three Soul Kings, four Soul Ancestors, and six Soul Elders. The Star Luo Empire... really thinks highly of me."

The Star Luo Colonel snorted. "Hmph. You only have yourself to blame for becoming too prominent. To lure you into taking the bait, we deliberately sent word that this was an important shipment."

"At your age, to make us of Star Luo rack our brains to target you, and to die at the hands of three Soul Kings—your death as the Young Wolf will be an honorable one."

"And the operation we're carrying out this time is called the 'Wolf Slaying Plan.' We'll make absolutely certain that this 'Young Wolf' of yours never returns."

"Kill them! Leave not a single one alive!" the Star Luo Colonel ordered immediately.

Suddenly, another change occurred. The tarps covering the more than twenty vehicles were thrown open, revealing soldiers wearing black armor.

There were more than a hundred of them.

Lin Jin's expression darkened further, because these black-armored soldiers were the elite Tiger Armored Army of the Star Luo Empire.

"You want to kill me, this Young Wolf? It won't be that easy!" Lin Jin abruptly drew the Signal Arrow from his waist and fired it into the air, where it let out a sharp cry.

"Since you're here, none of you are leaving!"

As his voice fell, a deafening roar of battle suddenly came from the Gorge Entrance.

Lei Ke, who had long since led troops into an ambush outside, now commanded another five hundred Blood Blades along with a thousand main-force soldiers from Iron Blood Pass.

Lin Jin refused to believe that three Soul Kings, several Soul Ancestors, and a hundred Tiger Armored Soldiers could do anything against nearly two thousand Heaven Dou Soldiers.

The Star Luo Colonel's expression changed. He had not expected Lin Jin to be this bold.

He had actually used himself as bait and turned around to set an even larger encirclement for them.

"Hold your ground! They may outnumber us, but their top-level combat strength is inferior to ours! I'll go cut him down. You hold them back." One of the Soul Kings beside the Star Luo Colonel issued a cold reminder.

"Blazing Mad Tiger, Martial Soul Possession!" A massive flaming tiger phantom appeared behind him.

His hands then transformed into tiger claws, and he attacked Lin Jin.

Three Soul Rings—Two Yellow One Purple—appeared on Lin Jin's body. A savage Demon Blade materialized in his hand.

He met the attack with a horizontal slash.
