Chapter Summaries

Shigure defeated the Two-Tails, Matatabi, with his Seventh Gate technique and met her in his inner world. After they spoke about the Tailed Beasts and the Child of Prophecy, Matatabi trusted him and left with increased chakra and potential.

• The Two-Tails fired a Tailed Beast Ball at Shigure, who summoned Katsuyu, entered Asura Mode, opened the Seventh Gate, and countered with Day Bear.
• Shigure overpowered the Two-Tails with a second Day Bear and brought her into his inner world.
• Shigure told Matatabi about the other Tailed Beasts and the Child of Prophecy, and Matatabi remarked that he reminded her of the Sage of Six Paths.
• Matatabi explained that Kumogakure would likely retreat once the woman regained control, and Shigure asked her to trust him.
• Matatabi trusted Shigure, who increased her potential and chakra before telling her his name; she thanked him and left his inner world.

Shigure’s defeat of the Two-Tails’ Jinchuriki forced the Third Raikage to withdraw his forces and issue an order to avoid fighting him. After Shigure rejected Jiraiya’s pleas to return to Konoha, Jiraiya received a secret order to capture him.

• The Two-Tails returned control of her body to its Jinchuriki, who fainted from her injuries, and the Third Raikage ordered Kumogakure to retreat.

Shiyu learned that Konoha had ordered Jiraiya to capture him even as Kirigakure attacked the village, and he asked his reunited comrades whether they would leave Konoha with him. After Shiyu explained Danzo and Konoha’s treatment of him, Grayfang and Nao chose to join him, while Kurenai’s decision remained unknown.

• Jiraiya showed Shiyu the secret order to capture him and the news that Kirigakure had attacked Konoha.
• Shiyu reunited with Team Seven and learned how the flank forces, including the Uchiha, Hatake, and Hyuga, had fought Kumogakure.

• Uchiha Masamune asked to leave Konoha with Shiyu, and Shiyu accepted him and his branch of the Uchiha Clan.
• Grey Fang offered the Hatake Clan members who had joined him, and Shiyu welcomed them into his forces.
• Kurenai decided to return to Konoha rather than risk bringing trouble to Shiyu or the Hyuga Clan.
• Jiraiya let Shiyu depart, and Shiyu led nearly two hundred followers toward the Land of Rice.
• Minato Namikaze intercepted the group and learned that Shiyu, Grey Fang, and Masamune were leaving Konoha.
• Shiyu refused Minato's attempt to stop him, and Minato prepared to fight as Shiyu cleared space for them.

Shiyu summoned Garaga to fight Minato and Gamabunta while insisting he had to leave Konoha as Kirigakure attacked. Shiyu and Garaga managed to soak Gamabunta with diluted petrifying venom, leaving the effect unclear.

• Minato summoned Gamabunta to hold Shiyu back, and Shiyu summoned Garaga to fight him.
• Garaga dodged Gamabunta’s sword and resisted his Iron Cannonball, then knocked the toad back with his body.
• Shiyu warned Minato that Kirigakure had launched a surprise attack on Konoha, but Minato refused to let him leave.
• Garaga evaded Gamabunta’s crushing leap attacks while Shiyu looked for a way to immobilize the toad without seriously hurting him.

Minato entered Sage Mode and fought Shiyu, who countered his Flying Thunder God attacks with a trap-filled technique called Flying Thunder God Three Stages. Minato destroyed one of Shiyu’s Shadow Clones, but Shiyu appeared behind him, leaving Minato’s next move uncertain.

• Gamabunta began turning to stone, so Minato sent him back to Mount Myōboku and entered Sage Mode while Garaga withdrew.
• Shiyu used Flying Thunder God to escape Minato’s attack, then kicked him into a tree and struck with Water Severing Wave, which Minato evaded.
• Shiyu launched Flying Thunder God Three Stages using Shadow Clones, marked kunai, and Chakra Threads to trap Minato.
• Minato struck one of Shiyu’s Shadow Clones with a Sage Art: Rasengan and teleported to a distant marked kunai.

Shiyu defeated Minato and left Konoha, then regrouped with his followers in the Land of Rice to establish a base for his growing organization. As he delegated its development, the system returned, and Shiyu turned his thoughts to protecting Kakashi, Rin, and Obito.

• Shiyu revealed he had survived Minato's Sage Art: Rasengan and trapped Minato, who conceded defeat and gave him a Mount Myōboku messenger toad contract for a visit three years later.
• Shiyu warned Minato to beware of the masked man, then left as Konoha ninja arrived and Minato explained that he had failed to stop him.
• Shiyu reunited with his followers and met Kakuzu, who reported that their base in the Land of Rice had recruited rogue and wandering ninja.

Shiyu learned that his collected bloodlines could trigger a major evolution, but he postponed fusing them to rush to the battlefield and save Kakashi and Rin. He arrived to find Konoha suffering heavy losses from Kirigakure’s Seven Ninja Swordsmen and hurried to search for Might Guy and the others.

• Shiyu told Nao and Gray Fang that he planned to risk himself to save Kakashi and Rin, then questioned the revived system about his failed evolution.
• The system identified Shiyu’s Senju, Rinnegan, Uzumaki, Uchiha, and Tailed Beast bloodlines and warned that fusing them could leave him unconscious for an uncertain length of time.
• Shiyu had the system restore his Eternal Mangekyo state, entrusted Kakuzu and the others with building a base in the Land of Rice, and set off for the battlefield.

• Shiyu killed White Zetsu spying on the battlefield before racing to Guy's position.
• Shiyu told Guy, Genma Shiranui, and Ebisu that Kumogakure had made peace with Konoha, then protected them from the attacking Kirigakure Ninja.
• Shiyu used the Body Flicker Technique to take Guy and the others somewhere safe.
• Shiyu unleashed Painful Sky Leg, breaking open a chasm and sending the Kirigakure Ninja fleeing.

Shiyu confronted all Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and overwhelmed them with his Shadow Clones and powerful ninjutsu. When they rushed in for close combat, he unleashed Complete Body Susanoo and grabbed three of them, leaving the battle unresolved.

• Shiyu faced Munashi Jinpachi and Kushimaru Kuriarare, then sensed the other five swordsmen approaching.
• Hozuki Jin, Jūzō Biwa, Raiga Kurosuki, Suikazan Fuguki, and another swordsman attacked Shiyu, but he blocked and countered their strikes.

Shiyu wiped out the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and set off for the eastern battlefield to find Might Duy and Kakashi. He arrived to find Kirigakure greatly outnumbering Konoha and spotted two familiar faces.

• Shiyu crushed three of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen in Susanoo and killed Jinin Akebino with a Yasakani Jewel.
• Shiyu caught Jūzō Biwa, Raiga Kurosuki, and Suikazan Fuguki, then killed all three despite their attacks and pleas for mercy.
• Shiyu sealed the seven Ninja Blades in a scroll and learned from Might Guy that Might Duy and Kakashi were on the eastern battlefield.
• Shiyu used the Body Flicker Technique and his Observation Eye to reach the eastern battlefield, where Kirigakure had more than ten times Konoha’s troops and he spotted two familiar faces.

Shiyu joined Might Duy against the Kirigakure forces and helped him defeat nearly the entire unit. After they defeated the Kirigakure leader’s subordinates, Shiyu revealed that he recognized the leader, who seemed to be waiting for reinforcements.

• Shiyu arrived just as Might Duy prepared to open the Eight Inner Gates and told him that Guy and the others were safe.
• Shiyu and Duy opened the Sixth Gate and unleashed their techniques against the Kirigakure forces.
• The Kirigakure leader ordered his forces to attack and fired a signal flare for help.
• Shiyu summoned the Slug Sage, healed himself, and gave Duy a Katsuyu clone to help them withstand the Eight Gates’ side effects.
• Shiyu and Duy defeated the Kirigakure forces, then Shiyu asked the remaining leader whether he had forgotten him.

Shiyu rejected the Third Mizukage’s offer to join Kirigakure and faced him and his mysterious masked ally in battle. After discovering that the ally could reassemble his body, Shiyu unleashed a powerful wind-and-lightning attack against him.

• The Third Mizukage arrived with a mysterious masked ninja and ordered the Kirigakure leader to leave Shiyu to them.
• The Third Mizukage offered to spare Shiyu’s friend and reward him if he joined Kirigakure, but Shiyu refused and accused the Mizukage of lacking control over his own decisions.
• The Third Mizukage attacked Shiyu with the Water Ripple Technique, and Shiyu moved Might Duy out of danger and sent him to join Guy.
• Shiyu struck the masked ninja with Instant Blade: One-Word Iaido, but the ninja’s severed body parts reassembled.
• The masked ninja clung to Shiyu’s blade, so Shiyu unleashed Blade Art: Rushing Wind Thunder against him.

Shiyu fought the Third Mizukage and a masked ninja whose acid and liquefaction abilities suggested he was the Six-Tails Jinchuriki. Shiyu forced the Six-Tails to run wild, trapped the Third Mizukage, and prepared to face the rampaging beast himself.

• Shiyu blocked the Third Mizukage's Water Dragon Bullet with Earth Release and countered his Water Bullet Barrage with the Water Severing Wave.
• The masked ninja attacked Shiyu with acid, but Shiyu's Susanoo protected him, and he struck the ninja with another Susanoo.
• Shiyu used the Water Severing Wave to collapse the raised earth and wounded the Third Mizukage with a water droplet launched by Draw Sword: Strike Water.
• Shiyu attacked the masked ninja with Rolling Wind and Thunder, causing dark red chakra to erupt and the Six-Tails to run wild.

Shiyu fought the rampaging Six-Tails Jinchuriki, overpowering him with close combat and absorbing and returning his Tailed Beast Ball. After defeating the Jinchuriki, Shiyu pursued him when he escaped underground, determined to claim his bloodline power.

• The Six-Tails Jinchuriki transformed into a fully cloaked, six-tailed form and attacked Shiyu with corrosive acid.
• Shiyu clashed with the Six-Tails in close combat, dodged its attacks, and punched it back with Brute Strength.
• The Six-Tails fired a Tailed Beast Ball, which Shiyu absorbed with his Sharingan and then returned with Kōtakamusubi in a much larger blast.
• Shiyu's attack returned the Six-Tails Jinchuriki to human form and left him badly burned, while the Third Mizukage watched in shock.
• Shiyu prepared to absorb the Jinchuriki's bloodline power, but the man burrowed underground and fled.

Shigure discovered that White Zetsu had swallowed the Third Mizukage and combined his powers with the Six-Tails. He battered White Zetsu with Susanoo and time-freezing techniques, then struck him with a Sage Art: Super Great Ball Rasengan.

• Shigure abandoned his pursuit of the Six-Tails Jinchuriki and returned to find White Zetsu swallowing the Third Mizukage.
• Shigure recognized White Zetsu, who revealed that he had controlled the Six-Tails and gained the Third Mizukage’s abilities by devouring him.
• White Zetsu attacked Shigure, but Shigure repelled him with Complete Body Susanoo and Yasakani Jewel.
• Shigure froze time and used Water Severing Wave to tear White Zetsu apart, leaving a Flying Thunder God mark on him.

Shiyu captured and interrogated White Zetsu, learning that Madara's plan to make Rin Nohara the Three-Tails Jinchuriki had begun. He saved Saiken, then heard the dying Third Mizukage's request to free Kirigakure from outside control and help Karatachi Yagura become the Fourth Mizukage before setting off to find Kakashi.

• Shiyu forced White Zetsu out of the ground, sealed his chakra, and used genjutsu to learn that he had come to report to Madara and place the Three-Tails inside Rin Nohara.
• Shiyu altered White Zetsu's memories and let him escape with false information about Shiyu's abilities.
• Shiyu drew Saiken into his inner world and, with the Slug Sage's help, saved the dying Six-Tails and sent him to Shikkotsu Forest.

Shiyu found Kakashi and Rin before Kirigakure could force them into their planned confrontation, then absorbed the Three-Tails from Rin. He faced the Sharingan-controlled Isobu inside his mind while Kakashi and Rin escaped under cover of mist.

• Shiyu tracked Kakashi through the forest and found him searching for Rin while Kirigakure ninja secretly herded them together.
• Rin realized the Three-Tails implanted inside her would endanger Konoha and asked Kakashi to kill her, but he refused.
• Shiyu blocked the Kirigakure ninja's attacks, told Kakashi his plan, and covered their escape with mist and Shadow Clones.
• Shiyu absorbed the Three-Tails from Rin and drew Isobu into the depths of his mind.
• Shiyu saw that Isobu was under Sharingan control, and Isobu attacked him when he tried to calm it.

Shiyu defeated the Sharingan-controlled Isobu in his mental space and released it from the illusion. To save Rin Nohara, he agreed to let Isobu move into his body, becoming her replacement Jinchuriki.

• Isobu attacked Shiyu and fired a Tailed Beast Ball, which Shiyu absorbed and returned as a much larger Kōtakamusubi that left Isobu badly injured.
• Shiyu used his Sharingan to release Isobu from the illusion, then waited while the Three-Tails recovered.
• Shiyu explained to Isobu that someone had controlled it and sealed it inside Rin Nohara, whom it could not leave without killing.
• Isobu proposed moving into Shiyu's body so Rin could survive, and Shiyu agreed to become its Jinchuriki.

Shiyu began transferring the Three-Tails from Rin into himself, but Kirigakure forces repeatedly threatened the vulnerable pair. Mei Terumi protected them and bought Shiyu time as he neared the end of the transfer.

• Isobu told Shiyu to place his hand on Rin's chest to draw the Three-Tails into himself, and Shiyu began the transfer after knocking Rin unconscious.
• A Kirigakure squad attacked while Shiyu was vulnerable, but Mei Terumi intervened with Water Release and drove them back.
• Mei guarded Shiyu and Rin as he transferred most of Isobu's power from Rin into his own body.
• Another Kirigakure squad attacked, and Mei used Water Release, Boil Release, and Lava Release to hold them off.
• Shiyu told Mei he had about ten seconds left to complete the transfer.
