Early in the morning, sunlight illuminated the land.
In a spacious room, a handsome young man sat quietly in a wooden chair, reading a book in his hands.
He read at an astonishing speed. Compared to the slow pace of most people, he was practically reading as fast as he could turn the pages, making it hard to tell whether he could even see the words clearly.
"Record complete. Beginning transfer!"
As soon as he finished a book, the Chip's mechanical voice sounded in his mind again.
At the same time, a stream of information surged from his mind, quickly transferring into his memory.
Arthur shook his head, dispelling the brief daze caused by the transfer. Then he picked up another book and began leafing through it at speed.
He turned the pages so quickly that before long, he had gone through every book on the wooden table.
"That's enough for today."
Looking at the books spread across the table, Arthur shook his head and stood up. After loosening his limbs a little, he walked over and returned the books to their shelves one by one.
Seeing that he had practically read every book on the shelves, Arthur couldn't help feeling a little dazed.
More than a month had passed since he had arrived here.
He hadn't spent that entire month idle.
As this was a prosperous region in the south, Duke Arie's collection was far larger than Count Polia's. Among the books were all sorts of rare volumes and valuable records—enough to fill several small libraries.
These collections were the foundation of a noble house, and a testament to its power and history.
During this time, Arthur had devoted himself almost entirely to these precious books, studying so avidly that he neglected food and sleep, steadily expanding his knowledge.
