"???" Koster looked utterly stunned when he heard Louis's words.

How could that be? The Church had always claimed that the sky was round and the land was flat.
Everything inside the Storm Wall was the whole world.
But in an instant, he grew angry. Of course. If the Church's words could be trusted, he wouldn't have so many conflicts with it now.
He had never believed anything the Church said.
"Louis, how did you find this out?" Koster asked the man beside him.
He still found it hard to believe. How could the world they lived in be a sphere?
If people lived on top of it, that was one thing. But wouldn't the people on the underside fall off?
That was simply impossible.

Koster was a clever king. With Baris translating and the images moving on the screen, he gradually understood: some special force held people to the blue sphere, allowing them to live on it.
It was like the object in his hand. No matter where or in what direction he threw it, it eventually fell downward because of that force.
So the people on the underside of Blue Star wouldn't fall off either.
