Entei had not yet returned, and there was no telling what he had gone off to do.
Yan Yang let Hawlucha rest on a rock inside the cave, while he went deeper into the cavern to retrieve some Berries, beckoning for Hawlucha to join him.
The Pokémon didn't stand on ceremony; after offering a word of thanks, it began to eat.
Just as it was finishing up, Entei returned, carrying a large, bulging bag that seemed to be filled with all sorts of things.
Yan Yang opened the bag to find it packed with children's clothes, shoes, snacks, toys, and various other odds and ends.
Yan Yang was curious about where these items had come from. Given Entei's personality, he certainly wouldn't have stolen them, but how had he managed to acquire these things without being discovered by anyone else?
Entei gave a simple explanation: he had run into the former candidate for the Brave of the Rainbow and had entrusted him with the purchase.
It seemed Entei still trusted that Brave of the Rainbow quite a bit, enough to reveal himself to him. The man hadn't asked too many questions after hearing Entei's request and had even gone the extra mile to prepare more things that children would like.
However, knowing that Entei still knew other people made Yan Yang feel a bit sour for some reason; he felt as though he were becoming increasingly childish.
Seeing Yan Yang's dejected expression, Entei roughly understood the situation. He raised a front paw and patted his shoulder, "Don't overthink it. We are just acquaintances; he can't compare to you."
Yan Yang felt a little embarrassed to have his petty thoughts exposed, but he quickly composed himself.
As long as I'm not embarrassed, the one who is embarrassed is someone else.
Hawlucha watched the two of them interact. Even though it had learned on the road that Yan Yang had a Pokémon father, it hadn't fully believed it at the time. Now that it saw it for itself, it was still a little surprised.
When Entei entered, he had noticed this Pokémon he hadn't seen before, but he didn't ask about it immediately, waiting for Yan Yang to explain the situation.
"Dad, this is a Hawlucha, a Pokémon from the Kalos Region. Hawlucha, this is Entei, one of the Legendary Beasts of the Johto region, and also my dearest Father." Yan Yang began the introductions.
Hawlucha looked at the Entei before it, a sense of awe rising in its heart. With such powerful pressure, the other party must be an incredibly strong Pokémon; it definitely wouldn't be able to withstand a single move from him.
As a Fighting-type Pokémon that loved to battle, it followed the philosophy that the strong were to be respected. Hawlucha bowed to Entei, signaling its submission and respect.
Entei, accustomed to the attitude of strange Pokémon toward him, nodded, acknowledging its existence.
Yan Yang recounted the entire sequence of events to Entei on the side.
Upon hearing what had happened, Entei was filled with rage. However, he wouldn't show it in front of his child and a guest, but the murderous intent in his eyes was unmistakable. The look of someone wanting to kill was impossible to hide, making Hawlucha's scalp tingle and its body tremble slightly.
Yan Yang wasn't particularly afraid; after all, he had caused trouble and made him angry before, but today, Entei was truly furious.
The temperament of most Fire-type Pokémon is indeed like a flame.
Entei reined in his sharpness slightly and began to calculate how to act.
Wiping those people out directly was the simplest and most brutal method, but it might alert humans and invite suspicion. Furthermore, how those rescued Pokémon would return to their homes was another problem; it seemed that the intervention of other humans would be necessary.
After thinking for a while, Entei decided to trouble Wang Yan again. He seemed to have some connections and could be asked to handle the aftermath for these Pokémon.
As for those hunters, they would be beaten up first and then handed over to those humans. Such poaching behavior was certainly not allowed by humans, so those people should experience what it felt like to be locked up.
Entei prepared to leave again. After Yan Yang understood his plan, he expressed that he wanted to participate in the operation as well.
Entei gave his permission. The Little Sun of today was no longer the Little Sun of the past; it was a good thing that he had his own ideas, and he would certainly support him.
However, there was a prerequisite: Yan Yang could not be exposed to the sight of others.
There were a few masks among the things brought back; wearing one would prevent him from being seen, though it would be better if there were no chance of even the mask being seen.
"Dad, that Wang Yan... can he not see me either?"
Entei hesitated. Any issue involving Yan Yang had to be handled with caution, or he would regret it.
Wang Yan was a former candidate for the Brave of the Rainbow. Entei didn't know if he still possessed that original, burning, sincere heart. After all, human hearts are fickle; someone who was once kind could later turn into a villain who stops at nothing.
He hadn't noticed such a change during their last meeting.
In the end, Entei decided to trust him, not just because he had helped him purchase a pile of supplies not long ago, but also because of the state of his Charizard—it was excellent. He could feel the Charizard's love and reliance on its trainer; a trainer who treated their own Pokémon well couldn't be all that bad.
Moreover, Yan Yang would eventually have to return to human society, and at that time, he could continue to ask him to help give Little Sun a reasonable identity.
As for the reward, Entei thought about using his Sacred Fire to temper the body of his ace Charizard and then letting it train with him for a while.
Entei might have felt it was nothing, just a small effort on his part, but this was an opportunity many trainers dreamed of.
The resources and guidance of a Legendary Pokémon—how many people would flock to that? It was said that Pokémon blessed by a Legendary Pokémon would be reborn, becoming powerful Pokémon famous far and wide. Some Pokémon could even receive true teachings, gaining the power to break through the limits of their species.
Some humans could even receive the blessings of divine beasts and possess miraculous abilities.
However, Yan Yang, who was taken care of by Entei at home all day, had no concept of this. He didn't know how much value each blast of [Sacred Fire] held every time he got sick; to Entei, it was just a daily routine, given away as if it cost nothing.
If others knew, they would be green with envy.
The reason why trainers who had captured Legendary Pokémon were a cut above the rest was largely due to this; it was truly enviable.
But it was something they deserved; they had gained the recognition of a divine beast and were willing to become its trainer, so why couldn't they give their own trainer a little "cheat"?
Anyway, a little cheat isn't really cheating.
Entei set off with Yan Yang and Hawlucha. Although Entei didn't like other Pokémon on his back, it was fine if Yan Yang was holding them.
Hawlucha, being held by Yan Yang, felt like it was dreaming. It was actually on the back of a Legendary Pokémon! It would be able to brag about this for a long time. In the future, it could proudly tell its companions, "I once rode such-and-such divine beast," and imagine how many admiring gazes that would harvest.
Yan Yang didn't know what Hawlucha was thinking. His mood was very complicated; was he about to meet the first person he had encountered since coming to this world? He wondered if he would be discussed or looked at with strange eyes.
He hadn't seen other human fellows for too long, and he still had some resistance to meeting people. He was naturally a shy person, and only in front of Pokémon did he feel he wasn't so shy. In his eyes, other people were not as kind as Pokémon.
But he still had to take this step. He couldn't live in the wild with Entei forever; he would eventually have to return to human society, and he had to learn to interact and communicate with people.
Thinking of this, his gaze became firm.
Entei's vigorous figure shuttled through the forest, his pace as firm as Yan Yang's gaze.
