Wang Yan descended from the sky on Charizard.
From above, he spotted Entei already in his backyard, and felt a flicker of curiosity. It hadn't been long since their last meeting—why was Entei back so soon? And beside him was a child, wearing the shoes Entei had bought earlier. So that was the reason behind those purchases.
Entei greeted him briefly, then tried to get straight to the point. But with no common language, the conversation didn't go smoothly.
Little Sun couldn't stand it any longer. He could speak human language, so he stepped in to translate.
"Dad needs your help with something."
The moment those words left his mouth, both parties were taken aback.
Entei thought: "Huh? Little Sun can speak human language?" After all, growing up with them, Little Sun had only learned Pokémon language—he'd never had a chance to learn human speech.
Wang Yan thought: "Well, well. So they really are the relationship I guessed."
But at least the conversation could continue. With Little Sun as their bridge, the talk flowed as smoothly as a fish in water.
"In the forest near where we live, there's a group of Pokémon Hunters from Kalos. We're planning to deal with them. But afterward, we'll need human help, so we came to ask for yours."
After hearing Entei's request, Wang Yan nodded and said he'd help.
Entei gave a grateful nod, then dragged Charizard out to the woods, leaving Little Sun behind. It seemed he wanted Little Sun to get to know Wang Yan better.
Little Sun was nervous. This was his first time alone with another person in this world. On top of that, he was naturally shy around strangers and didn't know what to say. He just stood there, muttering to himself: Why did Dad leave me here alone? This is so awkward.
Entei had his own reasons. He wanted Little Sun to interact more with humans and build a good relationship with Wang Yan, so that when he eventually returned to human society, he'd have someone to rely on.
And since Little Sun could speak human language, he could naturally communicate well with Wang Yan.
Wang Yan had a pretty good idea of what Entei was thinking. Pokémon's intentions were easy to read. So he led Little Sun inside.
Pushing open the door, Little Sun's eyes landed on a spacious, bright living room. Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, spilling onto the soft carpet.
The whole space was dominated by warm cream tones, accented with bright splashes of color. On the walls hung several photos—some of Pokémon, some of people. In the center was a large group shot, humans and Pokémon gathered together, looking very warm and cozy.
In the middle of the living room sat a comfortable sofa set, patterned with Pikachu designs. Beside it was a round table with a few small Poké Ball-shaped decorations and some books about Pokémon.
In the corner was a small gaming area with a computer, surrounded by various Pokémon-themed figurines and posters. The most eye-catching were the ones of Charizard and Arcanine... It was clear the owner loved Pokémon deeply.
This setup reminded Little Sun of the Secret Base feature in Pokémon games. It felt quite similar.
Wang Yan gestured for Little Sun to sit down, poured him a glass of juice, and then sat across from him.
"So? Pretty nice place, right?"
Little Sun gripped his cup nervously, not knowing what to say. Without Entei around, he felt a bit insecure. Even though the person in front of him looked harmless, he was still tense.
"Don't worry, big brother here isn't a bad guy." Wang Yan tried to put on a friendly expression. He knew this kid was probably meeting another human for the first time. Being at a loss was normal—he just needed a little time to relax.
Little Sun knew he shouldn't stay silent. He took a few deep breaths and finally spoke: "I, I didn't mean it that way."
Seeing that Little Sun was willing to talk, Wang Yan started a gradual conversation. Slowly, Little Sun began to speak more naturally.
After a pleasant exchange, both sides had learned a bit about each other.
Wang Yan now roughly understood Little Sun's background, and also saw what Entei was trying to do.
If you like this book, to avoid losing it next time, remember to add it to your bookshelf.
Little Sun also learned some things about Wang Yan: He was an excellent Pokémon Trainer. His parents were in business, mainly dealing with Pokémon-related products. He had an older sister who worked at the police station—the Growlithe from before was the child of an Arcanine there. It had come to their family because it took a liking to his sister. And so on... In short, he came from a wealthy, happy family.
Pokémon Trainers were never poor—after all, how could you raise Pokémon without money? The prices here weren't as ridiculous as in some novels; they were only about two to three times higher than normal game prices.
After receiving Ho-Oh's feather, Wang Yan had sworn to become a powerful Trainer.
Later, failing the Legendary Beasts' trial had discouraged him for a while, but he quickly bounced back. He kept working hard with his Pokémon and eventually became a well-known Trainer, placing in the top eight at the last Johto League Tournament.
Now, he was preparing for the next League Tournament, aiming to enter the League and make a name for himself.
Accepting Entei's request came with a bit of selfishness too—he wanted to use this opportunity to get closer to his goal.
Having a dream was admirable. Little Sun himself hadn't really thought about what he wanted to do when he grew up.
Why think so much? He'd worry about that when he was older. For now, he should focus on other things.
"Can I look around?"
"Of course."
With the owner's permission, Little Sun started wandering around the living room. He picked up a newspaper from the table and flipped through it.
Wang Yan was a bit surprised that the kid could read the content. Had Entei taught him?
Things were getting interesting.
After reading the newspaper for a while, Little Sun noticed something off. This world was a bit different from the Pokémon anime world he knew.
This should be Goldenrod City. Many famous landmarks were indeed here, and the Gym was indeed Normal-type. But the Gym Leader wasn't the one he knew—it was a complete stranger.
Places like Cherrygrove City, which originally had no Gym, now had one. There also seemed to be other cities that didn't exist before. The Elite Four and League Champion weren't the ones he recognized either...
It seemed the Pokémon world he had transmigrated into wasn't the one from the games or anime. It was probably some parallel world—like when Ash traveled to a parallel world in Alola.
Still, it wasn't completely different. Aside from the characters, most of the settings were similar.
For example, the Pokémon legends were about the same. The Burned Tower in Ecruteak City, the legends of Ho-Oh and Lugia, the Legendary Beasts—all matched what he knew.
But that meant he probably wouldn't meet any familiar faces. He'd hoped for a chance to get to know Ash and the others. Now, that seemed difficult. The only way might be to find the anime world through a Pokémon like Celebi.
Looks like I'll need to be more careful from now on—I can't keep relying on the anime as a reference.
After watching a while longer, Entei's voice came from outside. He had already given Charizard thorough guidance and was now urging them to head back.
Yan Yang thanked Wang Yan, then ran out to find Hawlucha before mounting Entei and returning home.
Wang Yan watched the direction they left in. Beside him, Charizard looked thrilled—he could feel that his strength had truly improved. As expected, this was the power of a Legendary Pokémon.
Wang Yan patted Charizard's neck, his mind churning with thoughts.
Entei had quietly hinted to him that in five years, he would send Yan Yang to the human world. At that time, he hoped Wang Yan would continue to look out for him. Was this an opportunity?
Protected by a Legendary Pokémon, Yan Yang's future was bound to be brilliant.
Wang Yan found himself looking forward to it. A child raised by a Legendary Pokémon returning to human society—what interesting things would come of it?
If you can't find the book by its title, try searching by the author—maybe it just changed names!
