God's Eye for Information

When Yan Yang woke up, Entei was already gone, leaving him alone in the cave.

Memories surged through his mind, a flood of information pouring in. By the time he had painstakingly absorbed it all, nearly an hour had passed.

Now, Yan Yang was complete. With his memories restored, his thoughts felt far more active—after all, he now possessed the consciousness of a twenty-year-old. But his body was still that of a five-year-old, which felt oddly awkward.

Of course, his small head seemed barely able to contain it all. His thinking was constrained by a child's brain, far from fully mature.

"I never thought I'd actually come to the Pokémon world and live with my favorite Pokémon," Yan Yang murmured.

The returning memories hadn't erased his original ones. Every detail of the past few years living with Entei remained vivid in his mind.

"Good thing Dad's already gone out and didn't notice anything off about me. Otherwise, explaining my situation would've been a real pain," he muttered to himself.

He quickly accepted this reality and felt genuine recognition for his foster father, Entei—even if they were one human and one Pokémon.

After all, Entei was his absolute favorite Pokémon. Being raised by his favorite Pokémon was an experience beyond amazing.

Still, calling Entei "Dad" with his current mental age felt a little embarrassing.

He looked around the cave. The familiar surroundings hadn't changed. On the stone platform lay Berries that Entei had prepared for him to stave off hunger. He took a bite—still as delicious as ever.

He'd grown up on Miltank's milk and Berries all these years, and he'd turned out pretty sturdy. Was this just the power of a human body in the Pokémon world? He wondered how tough he really was.

At least he'd been a vegetarian in his past life. Coming to the Pokémon world meant he didn't have to worry about eating any strange meat.

Funny—he just didn't eat meat.

Actually, Entei had caught fish for him before, but he never touched it, so Entei stopped trying.

This world had ordinary fish and animals, but not many. Most were raised by humans. In the wild, aside from fish and some birds, traces of other animals were rare.

Should he explain his situation to Entei? After all, many Legendary Pokémon probably already knew who he really was.

No. Absolutely not. He was afraid that if Entei found out, he might distance himself. He didn't dare take that risk.

"Da-chuu~ Little Sun, come play with us!"

Just as Yan Yang was lost in thought, a familiar Pokémon voice reached his ears. He went outside and saw the Sentret that had won their hide-and-seek game yesterday.

He naturally agreed.

Then, as he thought about the Sentret, he suddenly saw information appear on it:

Sentret (Playmate) Gender: Male Type: Normal Level: 5 Ability: Run Away (Guarantees escape from wild Pokémon battles) Item: None Moves: Omitted (requires touch or being the Trainer's own Pokémon to know) Status: Very healthy Evaluation: Baby Pokémon just need to be cute. Trainers who want to catch them have a lot more to think about.

This string of information made Yan Yang instantly realize this was his ability—to know other Pokémon's stats and status.

Come to think of it, it seemed like most people who crossed over to the Pokémon world had this kind of power.

Yan Yang picked up the Sentret and held it in his arms. The Sentret was delighted—it seemed the feeling of having its feet off the ground was exciting for everyone. Except for Pokémon that could already fly, non-flying ones probably all craved that sensation.

Carrying the Sentret toward their usual play spot, he tested his ability again mid-walk. Sure enough, he could now see the Sentret's moves.

"Moves: Scratch, Defense Curl."

A truly plain and simple move pool. But that made sense—a Level 5 Pokémon wouldn't have many moves.

Because he'd discovered he had a new skill, Yan Yang didn't play very seriously today.

He decided he'd call this detection skill "God's Eye." Yan Yang nodded to himself, satisfied.

Still, this skill didn't seem all that useful. He wasn't living in the human world, and he wasn't battling. What good was knowing Pokémon stats?

At most, he could check if a Pokémon was healthy. But honestly, it felt like food with no flavor—a waste to throw away, but not worth much either.

Still, getting a cross-dimensional perk was nice. He shouldn't be too picky.

But he felt like he should have more than just this one ability. There had to be other skills waiting to be unlocked. God's Eye was probably just the most basic one.

So while the other Pokémon played, Yan Yang quietly slipped to the side and started gesturing wildly, waving his arms, clawing at the air... After a short burst of activity, he found no other abilities.

The other Pokémon watched him with concern. What was this kid doing? Flailing around like that—was he sick?

Seeing the Pokémon looking at him with such care, Yan Yang realized his behavior had confused them. He smiled awkwardly and said he was fine, just stretching.

"So awkward. They don't think I'm an idiot, do they?"

Luckily, Pokémon forget things quickly. Soon everyone went back to their own activities.

Yan Yang said goodbye to his little friends for now and started walking through the forest.

Everything in the forest was beautiful. Towering trees stood like silent guardians of this land. The air was filled with the fresh scent of earth and grass, occasionally mixed with the fragrance of wildflowers.

All of this felt so real. Thinking back, it seemed that in his past life, he had never left the city, never seen a forest, let alone any other landscapes—just thinking about it still felt a bit regrettable.

But it's not too late to enjoy it now.

Walking slowly along the path, Yan Yang occasionally stopped to observe his surroundings. Bug-type Pokémon hid in the nearby grass; some would crawl out and move slowly, cautiously, likely to avoid the Flying-type Pokémon in the sky.

The predator-prey relationships among Pokémon still existed. Bird Pokémon would still treat some Bug-type Pokémon as food.

At first, Yan Yang found it a bit hard to accept, but after a while, he got used to it. This was the law of nature's survival of the fittest—there was no need for him to dwell on it too much.

Besides, the Bug-type Pokémon that had grown up outsmarting Flying-type Pokémon from a young age would eventually become powerful enough to stand on their own.

Walking on, Yan Yang arrived at an open area. Beside it was a fairly wide river, and on the riverbank stood an especially thick Old Oak Tree. Compared to it, the other trees around seemed like mere juniors.

Wrapping his arms around the trunk, Yan Yang could feel its rough surface and the marks left by time, as if he could even hear the heartbeat of nature itself, blending with the sound of the flowing river—truly a heavenly melody on earth.

A gentle breeze softly brushed against his cheeks. Yan Yang closed his eyes, quietly savoring the beauty of nature.

Suddenly, a strong wind came from the north.

The wind was so fierce it nearly knocked him over, and mixed within it was the howl of some Pokémon.

Yan Yang opened his eyes. The water's surface had somehow become shrouded in mist, hazy and dreamlike. Standing in the middle of the water was a blue, slender, four-legged Pokémon.

Its headpiece was like a blue gem, surrounded by white, wind-like ribbons that displayed an elegant posture. Its body bore blue and white patterns, as if symbolizing the union of water and wind. On its forehead was a large, hexagonal, sky-blue crown, somewhat resembling the horns of a qilin.

That Pokémon simply stood on the river's surface, exuding mystery and grace. It was now staring back at Yan Yang with its red eyes, as if trying to see through the human before it.

Yan Yang also looked at this uninvited Pokémon, somewhat surprised, and unconsciously spoke its name: "The Incarnation of the North WindSuicune."
