As Suicune ran, it told the child on its back stories—like the origin of the three Legendary Beasts. Although Entei had never mentioned it, Yan Yang still knew a bit about it.

Legend said they were originally three nameless Pokémon that died in the fire at the Burned Tower. Ho-Oh used its power to revive them, but humans, fearing this resurrection ability, drove the Legendary Beasts away. They left the Burned Tower and became Ho-Oh's messengers, observing humanity.

What Suicune told him was mostly the same as what he already knew.

Yan Yang also had the same question as many others—one of the great unsolved mysteries of the Pokémon world: what were the Legendary Beasts' original forms?

The idea that they were three Eevees of corresponding types was complete nonsense. He didn't believe any flame could burn a Fire-type Flareon with Flash Fire to death.

But he didn't dare ask. This should count as the Legendary Beasts' privacy. He shouldn't pry too much.

Actually, if Yan Yang had asked, it wouldn't have mattered much. After all, the revived Legendary Beasts had no memories of their past. They themselves didn't know what Pokémon they had been revived from. Maybe only Ho-Oh knew?
