Seeing Rome’s military strength turning toward Africa and realizing Caesar knew of his ties to Cleopatra and Spartacus, Kirk decided to cash in the team’s rewards and leave Rome.

  • Princess Wenlita joined Kirk’s plan to rescue Plo, and Octavian revealed that he had recruited veterans of the 13th Legion to help.

As Antony led his cavalry toward the walls, a terrifying shape appeared in the clouds, and Octavian recognized the world-destroying threat he had seen before.

  • Kirk killed the Legion Commander by turning the Roman’s own sword against him, and the Anubis Guard annihilated the gladiator legion at great cost.

  • Kirk declined the victory feast and went to Cleopatra’s palace, where he persuaded her that intimacy would restore his strength and heal his wounds.

Ch. 517Night Song—5000

Kirk secured Amun God's cooperation against Rome and learned that the Egyptian faction offered valuable rewards, including a reusable resurrection coffin. Amun warned that danger lay to the south, and Kirk realized the Romans might release stored water from the dams near Aswan to flood Alexandria.

  • After spending the night with Cleopatra, Kirk wondered whether Antony's siege bolt had wounded Little Green with a space virus and resolved to stop Antony.
  • When Amun God appeared, Kirk argued that Rome's conquest of Egypt would destroy the deity's worship and faith, then persuaded him to cooperate against the Romans.
  • Kirk unlocked the Egyptian faction's rewards and examined its exchange list, including the Pharaoh's Golden Coffin and divine Rune Words.
  • Amun warned Kirk and Cleopatra that a Roman scheme threatened their efforts and that the danger lay in the south.
  • After a renewed Roman attack was repelled, Kirk inspected Alexandria's southern gate and asked Cleopatra about the Nile's waterworks near Aswan.

Ch. 518The Conspiracy -5000

Kirk and Cleopatra discovered Octavian’s plan to destroy Alexandria with a series of engineered floods, then struggled to protect the city. After Kirk used the [Tide of the Sea God] to split the first waves and the Egyptians’ breakwater held briefly, the barrier collapsed and the flood struck the south gate.

  • Kirk and Cleopatra realized Octavian planned to destroy Alexandria by bursting the Nile’s dams, and Kirk ordered a breakwater built at the south gate.
  • Cleopatra directed hundreds of thousands of laborers as they constructed a massive breakwater and reinforced the Water Gates before nightfall.
  • Kirk used the [Tide of the Sea God] and its [Whirlpool] ability to split more than a dozen flood waves, diverting the water and hurling logs into the Roman camps.
  • Octavian ordered Warrenus and Plo to destroy the remaining dams, and the resulting waves and logs battered the breakwater until it collapsed.
  • Kirk rushed with Cleopatra to the south gate, where Little Fatty, Mosuo, and the others braced the gate against the flood’s first wave.

Ch. 519Turning the Tide - 5000

Kirk and Alexandria’s defenders repelled Octavian’s flood-assisted assault, then fought the Romans for fifteen days. The Egyptians had inflicted heavy losses, but Alexandria’s army was exhausted and the city remained under siege.

  • Kirk held Alexandria’s gates against the flood, then used barricades and catapults to damage Warrenus and Plo’s ships as they forced their way through the Water Gate.
  • Kirk summoned his allies, who used illusions, sirens, and ranged attacks to disrupt the Roman fleet while the floodwaters receded and Octavian’s main army advanced.
  • Kirk weakened and devastated the Roman troops with Absolution of the Dawn Goddess, captured Warrenus and Plo, and helped seal the Water Gate before Octavian’s army could enter.
  • Octavian withdrew after his assault failed, while Antony broke with him and began guarding against his rival.
  • Cleopatra organized flood relief as Kirk repaired the defenses and prepared Alexandria for further attacks; over the next fifteen days, the Romans lost 120,000 men and the Egyptians suffered 70,000 casualties.
  • After fifteen days of fighting, Alexandria had only 30,000 exhausted soldiers left, with fewer than 10,000 defending each section of the walls.
