May 30th, Friday.
"Gurgle gurgle gurgle—plop!"
Chen Wen finished brushing his teeth and moved aside to grab a towel, making space for Jiang Qiuyi to rinse her mouth at the sink.
After Jiang Qiuyi finished brushing, Chen Wen handed her the towel while taking the basin to fill it with water and wet his own towel.
"Is the Elucidator ready?" Jiang Qiuyi hummed a little tune, speaking a few words in between.
"Mm," Chen Wen nodded, rubbing his face with the wet towel. "After I get back today, I'll polish the details and then apply the wood wax oil."
"After that, can you make my Lambent Light first?" Jiang Qiuyi nudged Chen Wen's thigh with her hip, asking sweetly.
Chen Wen had no preference for the order of production, so he naturally agreed.
After they both washed their faces, Jiang Qiuyi neatly placed their towels and tidied up the toothbrushes, cups, and other items on the counter. She clapped her hands and walked out of the bathroom, full of energy.
"I have classes all morning and afternoon, but I'll be back for dinner~" Jiang Qiuyi said happily. "I got some pointers from an expert today, so I'll make dinner for you myself tonight~"
"Okay," Chen Wen replied. He picked up their backpacks from the sofa, habitually took Jiang Qiuyi's hand, and they went out together to take the elevator downstairs.
They walked all the way to the community entrance. After a hug and kiss, they parted ways and headed to their respective schools.
Chen Wen only had two classes in the morning: Financial Accounting and Financial Statement Analysis.
After finishing his classes as scheduled, it was already noon.
He went to the school cafeteria on the second floor in the east wing. As Chen Wen took out his meal card to buy food, he suddenly remembered Jiang Qiuyi's previous fan benefit video.
The ring he had made for Jiang Qiuyi was featured in that video, and sharp-eyed fans had noticed it.
At the time, the fans hadn't thought much of it, assuming Jiang Qiuyi wearing the ring signified her close relationship with her millions of fans.
Now, nearly a week later, he wondered if anything had changed.
Carrying his tray, he found an empty seat and sat down. Chen Wen took out his phone and scrolled to Jiang Qiuyi's video.
He was a little surprised to see that the comment about spotting Jiang Qiuyi wearing the ring had been upvoted to the very top.
He looked at the replies under the comment. Besides the initial exclamations and speculations, most of the other comments were from "Taobao Net members."
"I'll just say it, I actually gave her this ring (doge)"
"Ah, sorry, I forgot to tell my wife to take it off (doge)"
"Sorry, I asked her to take it off back then, but she refused no matter what. I couldn't do anything, she loves me too much (doge)"
Looking at these comments, Chen Wen felt a little relieved.
It seemed he didn't need to worry for now.
Just then, a tray was placed next to him. He Ran, with her short hair styled into two small braids on the sides, sat down with a smile. Her white legs, visible beneath her short skirt, leaned towards Chen Wen as she asked, "Master, Master~ Is anyone sitting here?"
"?" Chen Wen wore a confused expression.
"Didn't senior teach me how to make rings last weekend? So, you're my master in craftsmanship," He Ran said obediently.
"You're thinking too much. I don't take disciples," Chen Wen shook his head and continued eating. "Just call me by my name."
"But I don't know senior's name yet," He Ran asked slyly.
"Chen Wen."
"Okay, Master," He Ran smiled, like a cunning little fox.
Chen Wen glanced at her and said no more, continuing to eat his meal.
He Ran then tried to strike up more conversations, but Chen Wen only responded with perfunctory "Mm"s and "Oh"s, which had no effect whatsoever.

My dearest girlfriend: I'm eating now, what about you?
Jiang Qiuyi sent him a message on WeChat.
Chen Wen: Just started eating.
My dearest girlfriend: What did you eat?
Chen Wen: Scrambled eggs with tomatoes and braised lion's head.
My dearest girlfriend: Remember to eat the tomatoes too, not just the eggs.
Chen Wen: I'll try.
My dearest girlfriend: Are you eating alone? Not with your previous roommate?
Chen Wen: I was alone originally, but there's a girl next to me now.

My dearest girlfriend: Who is it?
Chen Wen: Forgot.
Chen Wen: The one who came to our house last weekend.
My dearest girlfriend: Oh~ Si Jiao Ji's sister.
Far away at the Music Academy, Jiang Qiuyi's lips curved into a smile the moment she saw the words "our house."
My dearest girlfriend: Did she need something from you?
Chen Wen: Not currently, she just kept talking, it was a bit noisy.
My dearest girlfriend: I'm going to eat first, I have class this afternoon and have to rush.
Chen Wen: Mm.
Putting down his phone, Chen Wen lowered his head to eat. He Ran, sitting next to him, asked curiously, "Is that Senior Qiuqiu? Checking in on you on schedule?"
"Just chatting."
Chen Wen remained indifferent, as he usually was.
If the person chatting with him wasn't absolutely proactive, the conversation would basically end after a sentence or two, leaving an awkward silence.
Because Chen Wen was accustomed to this state, which ultimately only made the other person feel awkward, he didn't have many friends at school.
He Ran, of course, didn't mind this; instead, she found it challenging.
Even if she couldn't win over the senior, building a good relationship first couldn't be wrong.
She didn't really have any ulterior motives; she just happened to see Chen Wen and wouldn't miss the opportunity to have a meal with the treasure of a senior.
But before she could chat for much longer, Chen Wen had already finished eating and stood up, preparing to return his tray.
Seeing this, He Ran quickly shoveled a few bites of food into her mouth and followed Chen Wen with her tray.
"Master, Master~ Do you have class this afternoon?"
"No."
He Ran's eyes lit up. After putting down her tray, she followed Chen Wen out of the cafeteria and continued to pester him, "I recently joined the street dance club at school and plan to practice this afternoon. Do you want to come watch, Master?"
Chen Wen's steps were unhurried as he walked directly towards the subway station outside the school. "No."
"Eh?!" He Ran's eyes widened slightly. She hadn't expected to be rejected again. Her eyes darted around, and she continued, "The street dance club is very close, and there's a milk tea shop next door. I'll treat you to milk tea, Master, and thank you for what happened last weekend."
"And you can see how my new dance is? It'll only take a few minutes."
"Master, Master~ It won't take up much of your time."
He Ran's innocent and pitiful pleading voice lingered in Chen Wen's ears, forcing him to stop.
"Master, you agreed?" He Ran's eyes sparkled with a surprised expression.
"No, please wait a moment." Chen Wen took out his phone and called Jiang Qiuyi.
Beep~ Beep~ Beep~
The call connected. Chen Wen pressed the speakerphone, and Jiang Qiuyi's confused voice came through the phone:
"Hello? What's wrong? Calling so suddenly."
