"Mengmeng!"
After taking the subway to Yintai, Jiang Qiuyi found her best friend in the plaza outside the entrance and immediately pounced on her with a kiss. "Mwah!"
"Ew~" Lin Meng, who was tall and slender, wiped away Jiang Qiuyi's spit with a look of disgust. She patted the head of the seven or eight-year-old girl beside her. "Come on, say Auntie Jiang."
The chubby little girl nodded obediently. "Hello, Auntie Jiang."
"Who's an auntie?" Jiang Qiuyi wrinkled her delicate nose, glared fiercely at Lin Meng, then crouched down and smiled. "Hello there, just call me Sister Jiang~"
"What are you talking about?" Lin Meng, who was one meter seventy but had a round, doll-like face, protested. "She calls me Auntie, don't teach her nonsense."
Jiang Qiuyi giggled and insisted, "We can call each other whatever we want, she's only 21~"
Taking her niece's little hand, Jiang Qiuyi and Lin Meng entered Yintai and went shopping.
After accompanying her niece in the arcade for an hour or two, they rested at a cold drink shop when the little girl got tired, preparing to head to the shopping area.
"Have you thought about what gift to buy?" Lin Meng placed her drink on the table, let out a long sigh, and then asked.
"I don't know..." Jiang Qiuyi spread her hands helplessly. "I haven't thought of anything suitable."
"Uh... maybe something like a facial cleanser?" the 26-year-old single woman, who had no dating experience since birth, suggested.
"...Don't give bad advice, you military advisor. Normal guys wouldn't like that, would they?" Jiang Qiuyi covered her face.
Lin Meng put on a stern face and huffed, "Then what did you give him before? You can use that as a reference."
"It's precisely because he never reacted much to the gifts I gave him before that I struggle with buying gifts every time!" Jiang Qiuyi complained.
"In junior high, I bought him Gundam toys, which many boys envied, but he didn't really like them. He said he'd rather make one himself out of wood."
"Later, I gave him games on Steam. He only played them a few times experimentally and then never touched them again."
"After that, I bought him a very expensive set of woodworking tools, but he looked at them and said I'd been scammed... Those tools were just for show, and they'd wear out quickly with actual use."
"In short, besides woodworking, he has no other hobbies. Otherwise, how could I have only just won him over now?"
Lin Meng played with her straw while listening. After hearing everything, she wiped the sweat from her forehead. "Hearing you say all that makes me even less inclined to date..."
Jiang Qiuyi rolled her eyes and finally sighed, "Let's just buy him a new set of clothes then."
After chatting for a while longer, the two women, along with the little girl, entered the shopping area.
Lin Meng bought a pretty little dress for her niece. Midway through, her cousin came over and picked up the little girl.
After that, Jiang Qiuyi and Lin Meng continued to shop and bought quite a few new clothes.
"Will he like the clothes you bought?" Lin Meng asked doubtfully.
"You don't understand," Jiang Qiuyi retorted. "He never buys clothes for himself."
"All the clothes he wears are bought by his mom and sister."
"The clothes his sister buys are okay, but the ones his mom buys are too old-fashioned..."
"Anyway, no matter what clothes I buy, he'll wear them. He's not picky at all."
At 4:30 PM, the two women, laden with shopping bags, sat down at a cafe.
Lin Meng took a camera out of her bag and started recording. "Hi everyone~ I've finished shopping for today and plan to have dinner at the Garden Restaurant tonight. Stay tuned~"
"What are you recording?" Jiang Qiuyi asked curiously.
"A vlog," Lin Meng replied, putting away the camera. "Are you joining me for dinner at the Garden Restaurant?"
"Of course, I promised to treat you," Jiang Qiuyi said. "I was also thinking of inviting Chen Wen."
"No need to treat me," Lin Meng chuckled. "I've accepted an advertisement for the Garden Restaurant, so dinner is free tonight. This vlog is specifically to film the ad."
"Free? It doesn't matter how many people?"
"Yeah, aren't you going to invite your boyfriend? It's free food, so just invite him."
"Then I won't be polite!" Jiang Qiuyi took out her phone and opened WeChat.
My dearest little girlfriend: Beep beep! Miss me?
In the handicraft studio at Huajing Garden 901, Chen Wen, who had just finished making a gift, took out his phone and saw the message from Jiang Qiuyi.
Chen Wen: What's up?
My dearest little girlfriend: First, did you miss me?
Chen Wen: I guess so.
My dearest little girlfriend: Guess so?!
Chen Wen: I missed you.
My dearest little girlfriend: Mhmm (Satisfied nod.JPG)
My dearest little girlfriend: Mengmeng and I are planning to have dinner at the Garden Restaurant. You should come too.
Chen Wen: Okay, time and address.
My dearest little girlfriend: It's right next to Yintai. Come around 5 PM. Find us at the cafe.
Chen Wen: Okay.
Chen Wen put down his phone and looked at the off-white dagger he had just finished on the crafting table, a satisfied expression on his face.
He rummaged through a cabinet and found an empty box that had held who-knows-what. Chen Wen placed the dagger inside, sealed it with clear tape, and considered it done.
Just then, his phone vibrated in his pocket. He picked it up to see a new message on WeChat.
Si Jiao Ji: Saw your new video. Is your Elucidator ready?
Chen Wen: Yep.
Si Jiao Ji: Didn't you say you wanted to borrow it for a couple of days before? Can I have it today?
Chen Wen: Sure.
Si Jiao Ji: How about I come over to pick it up tonight?
Chen Wen: No need. I'm heading out anyway. Just send me an address, and I'll drop it off on my way.
Si Jiao Ji: No problem. Thanks for the trouble.
Chen Wen put down his phone, feeling a bit strange.
Why did Si Jiao Ji seem so eager to get the Elucidator?
They were even planning to come over specifically tonight.
Shaking his head, Chen Wen didn't dwell on it. He tidied up the craft room, put on his sword belt, slung the Elucidator over his shoulder, and holding the gift box, prepared to leave immediately.
It was 4:30 now. A trip to Si Jiao Ji's place, and then to Yintai to meet Jiang Qiuyi for dinner. Arriving there around 5-something should be just right.
And so, Chen Wen, carrying his sharp sword, walked out of the residential complex and embarked on his journey.
He was stopped by a subway security guard.
"Little buddy, let me see that sword you're carrying."
Chen Wen blinked in surprise, then obediently handed over the Elucidator.
The security guard drew the long sword. Under the lights, the Elucidator's surface was smooth and bright, catching the eye.
"This is a wooden sword, not metal..." Chen Wen explained.
The guard hefted it and nodded, returning the Elucidator to Chen Wen. "My apologies. You can take this sword in, but please register your name and ID number."
"...Okay."
Chen Wen slung the Elucidator back over his shoulder and followed the staff member, under the curious gazes of the surrounding uncles and aunties, to register his personal information nearby.
Only then was he able to board the subway smoothly.
[Pu Jie Ri Ji]: I have to go back to school the day after tomorrow, so today I'm helping my mom wash various things, and I also need to pack the stuff I need to bring bit by bit... Updates probably won't be frequent these two days... At least one chapter guaranteed, the second chapter will be up to chance... Once school starts, I should be able to resume normal updates... emmm, I thought I could write drafts at home, but I was wrong... My mom keeps dragging me into manual labor every day... My grandma's house is being demolished, so there's a lot to do... It might actually be a bit better once I get to school
