Finding the Grave Robbery Hole

The next day, the group got up early and started digging a Grave Robbery Hole.

Hu Bayi observed and chose a spot with relatively soft soil to begin digging.

This area had actually been dug and refilled by tomb robbers before, which was why the soil was soft. In just over an hour, Wang Fatty had dug a hole half the height of a person.

Old Hu directed from above the hole while Fatty dug with all his might.

Meanwhile, Hu Ming found a broken tree to sit on, filled several empty wine bottles with gasoline, which he would give to Hu Bayi and the others shortly.

Yingzi had taken the hunting dog to forage for food. Of course, Hu Ming had also asked her to catch a few live rabbits, as they might be useful in the tomb later.

After finishing his preparations, Hu Ming also came over to check on his Fatty brother's progress.

"Clang! Clang clang!"

Fatty was digging vigorously inside the hole when his engineer shovel hit something hard.

Hu Bayi asked, "What is it?!"

Wang Fatty looked bewildered and replied, "I don't know!!"

Wang Fatty thought about it and decided to ignore it, burying his head and preparing to continue digging. Just then, Hu Ming jumped down into the hole.

Hu Ming said, "Alright Fatty, hurry up and get out, let me see!"

Hu Ming quickly stopped Fatty from digging further. Tomb robbing was no joke; a single mistake could cost them their lives.

Hu Bayi then also jumped into the hole and carefully dug a few times with the engineer shovel. The group then saw a large, jade-green stone beginning to emerge.

Upon seeing this, Fatty was stunned. They had really dug up a treasure!

Hu Bayi, however, swallowed hard, panicked, and quickly shoveled some dirt back to cover it. Only then did he jump out of the Grave Robbery Hole, still shaken.

Seeing Hu Bayi's flustered expression, Wang Fatty asked in confusion, "What's wrong, Old Hu? What happened?!"

Before Hu Bayi could answer, Hu Ming, who had just climbed out of the Grave Robbery Hole, helped explain, "These tomb robbers dug into the Heavenly Treasure Dragon Fire Glazed Top!"

Wang Fatty's pupils dilated, and he felt a sense of awe and confusion, "What is the Heavenly Treasure Dragon Fire Glazed Top?!"

Hu Bayi explained from the side, "This was a common anti-theft technique used in noble tombs during the Northern Song Dynasty. The entire tomb chamber was hollow, and the topmost layer was paved with glazed tiles. On top of the tiles were bags and bags of Western Regions Fire Dragon Oil, then another layer of glazed tiles, and finally, the soil mound was sealed.

However, because the tiles were extremely thin, they would shatter with any external force. The Western Regions Fire Dragon Oil ignites upon contact with air, burning everything in the tomb—all the remains and burial objects—to ashes, and taking the tomb robbers with them!"

Wang Fatty was even more shocked after Hu Ming's explanation. Mutual destruction, that was too intense!

Hu Bayi continued, "Fortunately, Mingzi noticed something was wrong and stopped you. If you had put any more force into it and broken through the glazed top, we would have turned into a pile of bones."

Fatty's back was now covered in cold sweat. He realized they had almost lost their lives outside the tomb before even entering it.

"Woof! Woof woof!!"

Just as the three were about to look for a side passage, several barks and Yingzi's shouts suddenly came from the woods!

"Oh no, something's happened to Yingzi!" The voices weren't far away, and the three immediately ran towards Yingzi.

"Yingzi!!" Fatty and Hu Bayi shouted, looking around for Yingzi!

"Little Ming, Big Brother Hu, Fatty Brother, I'm here!"

Yingzi's voice carried over, and the three found her near a large tree.

Following the tree, they saw a large hole next to it.

Hu Ming shouted into the hole, "Yingzi, are you okay?!"

Hu Bayi frowned and looked around before saying to Hu Ming and Fatty, "If I'm not mistaken, this is the Grave Robbery Hole those tomb robbers dug!"

The three looked at each other. They couldn't believe their luck. Just as they were about to look for a side passage, Yingzi had stumbled upon it. Thankfully, Yingzi was unharmed.

Hu Ming immediately said, "Fatty, hurry and get the stuff, don't forget the rope and my gasoline!"

"Okay!" Upon hearing that they had found the Grave Robbery Hole, Fatty's excitement surged, and he immediately ran back to get the equipment.

"Old Hu, wait for me here. I'll check on Yingzi first." With that, Hu Ming, carrying his backpack, jumped down into the Grave Robbery Hole.

As soon as Hu Ming landed, Hu Bayi's voice came from above, "Mingzi, how is it? Is the hole deep?"

"I'm fine, but this hole is quite deep. It's best to use a rope to come down!" After replying, Hu Ming looked towards Yingzi, who was sitting by the edge of the hole.

Seeing this, Hu Ming walked over and asked, "Are you okay, Yingzi?"

Yingzi replied, "I'm fine, I just twisted my ankle! It's okay, I checked it myself just now, and there's no bone injury."

Hu Ming nodded upon hearing this, "Alright, I have some Safflower Oil here, apply some yourself." He then took a small bottle of Safflower Oil from his backpack and handed it to Yingzi.

Yingzi applied it herself, and then Hu Ming helped her walk around. After confirming there were no major issues, they found a place to sit and wait for Hu Bayi and Wang Fatty to come down before taking any further action.
