Background / History
Zhang Lingyu is a Dragon Tiger Mountain disciple who participates in the Luo Tian Grand Ceremony. By the time of the tournament, he possesses the Tongtian Lu instance, making him a target for Yuan Tao’s group. 46
During the ceremony, he faces Malfurion Ode (Wang Changle). He initially counters Ode’s defensive tactics with the Golden Light Spell and Lightning Method, but Ode seals his Innate One Qi with Life Imprisonment. Forced into close combat, Lingyu is ultimately defeated after being provoked into losing focus. 42 43
Although Ode extracts much of his Life Source during the match, Ode immediately provides Life Essence to prevent lasting damage to Lingyu’s foundation. Lingyu leaves after acknowledging Ode’s lack of apparent ill will, though he remains displeased at having been manipulated. 43
Later, Yuan Tao and several accomplices ambush Lingyu in the forest to seize his Tongtian Lu instance. Lingyu remains composed, uses Yin Thunder against the attackers, and helps separate Xia He from the wider battle. After Ode reveals Gong Qing’s identity, Lingyu alerts the Old Celestial Master and departs with Lu Jin for Dragon Tiger Mountain. 46 47
