Onyxia had gone to Zandalar on business. Deren finally enjoyed a few days of peace and quiet—or so he thought.
With none of Oni's fiery attentions, no claws and scales suddenly appearing whenever she got jealous, Deren slept sweetly alone in bed, hugging his blanket—and no longer had to deal with her demanding ten rounds.
But he had forgotten about one troublemaking dragon: Chromie.
So when he felt like he could not breathe, he had no choice but to slowly wake from his deep sleep. Through the dim light, he discovered that what was pinning him down was actually a Bronze Dragon—she was having an all-you-can-eat buffet.
"Chromie, why aren't you asleep at this hour?" Deren's mind was foggy, but his body remained quick to react.
"Ah, Deren, you sleep. I'll handle myself. I just came back from Vereesa's place, had a little to drink, and couldn't sleep. Then I happened to see you sleeping, so I made myself something to eat." With that, she bit down hard.
"Hiss!" Deren nearly cried out. That bite had been way too fierce.
"Hey, hey, that's a bit much. Oni isn't here, but don't get too cocky," Deren protested.
"I won't tell her about what happened in the kitchen this morning, either. Hehe, were the pancakes tasty?" the troublemaking dragon threatened faintly.
