While the air in Ashenvale was thick with the smell of blood and scorched earth, Theramore's morning air carried the burnt fragrance of pancakes and some other fishy scent.
Deren and Jaina emerged from the kitchen with their spoils. After a long bout of work, breakfast was finally ready.
As the dining room filled with the aroma of food, Anveena poked her little head over the second-floor railing and cried out, "It smells so good! I want breakfast."
Then came the rapid sound of footsteps and a door opening upstairs.
Deren and Jaina exchanged smiles. Fortunately, no one had interrupted them today. They had been apart for a month, and their reunion had still been quite passionate. Perhaps they were simply used to being together every day and had gradually come to see each other as family.
"Lord Deren, I'll make you some tea!" the former Princess said gently.
"All right, thank you!" Deren sat down as well, preparing the tableware as he waited for his old companion to make her entrance.
"Wow, it smells amazing. I'll have a taste before Onyxia does." The Black Dragon had yet to appear, but another Bronze Dragon arrived first.
"Morning, Chromie!" Seeing that her fellow dragon was still half-squinting, clearly not well-rested, Deren thoughtfully fetched a wet towel for her to wipe her face.
"Oh, honestly, Deren is so nice that I don't even want to leave. How about bringing Vereesa over to live with us later?" Chromie had clearly stayed up all night watching videos with the little ranger again.
"No way. Sylvanas would beat me to death." Deren knew that sister-obsessed queen. If he dared lay a hand on her little sister, she would probably chase him across half of Azeroth.
"Hehe!" Chromie let out an immoral laugh. "Why don't you
