Ratchet's doom had arrived.

A band of Ogre raiders had sealed off every land exit from the city.

Yet no Goblins or their mercenaries dared leave the city to fight them.

No one had ever seen Ogre raiders clad head to toe in fine armor and wielding all manner of steel weapons.

They even had powerful thrown explosives. One leading Ogre chieftain had hurled one deep into the city, drawing curious onlookers before it exploded. The casualties had been severe. Everyone knew these Ogres were not to be trifled with.

As for why they had yet to attack the city, perhaps their numbers were insufficient. Or perhaps their orders were merely to besiege it.

The Goblins within the city had not given up either. They organized an elite force made up of mercenaries and slave soldiers to counterattack.

When Gordok saw the troops emerging from the city, his fighting spirit surged.

He swung his enormous two-handed sword and let out a roar. More than thirty towering Ogres swiftly formed ranks behind him.

The main force among Ratchet's mercenaries was also Ogres, while the slave soldiers were merely Gnolls. They held the advantage in numbers.

But when they saw Gordok's Ogre army, their hearts tightened.

The others had full suits of armor, which showed that they possessed great power. Ogres had no civilization of their own. Obtaining armor suited to Ogre-sized bodies meant either they were powerful enough to forge armor themselves, or they had been hired by an even stronger force.

Ratchet's Ogre troops, however, wore tattered rags and had no decent armor, only two circular breastplates strapped over their chests. Their weapons were no better. Some carried long blades forged from refined steel, while others still used thick tree trunks or hard boulders.
