The Holy Light flared once more. Fueled by Darion's blood, it crushed Mograine, reclaiming all of Ashbringer's power. It even burned Mograine's body. Beneath its dazzling radiance, the Death Knight was like a man doused in gasoline—he could do nothing but howl.

Who knew how much time had passed? At last, the setting sun's afterglow pierced the layers of gloom, spilling red light across the land like blood dripping from a gaping wound. Mograine finally fell still. Under the Holy Light's radiance, the wounds covering Darion's body had already healed and scabbed over.

Darion gazed at Ashbringer, restored in his hands, his heart full of conflicting emotions. Just as he stepped forward to deal with his father's remains, a transparent spirit rose from them. It was his father.

"Father!"

Darion reached out to grab his father, but his hand passed through empty air. Mograine paid no attention to his son and drifted straight west. Though bewildered, Darion hurried after him. He was injured, but he wanted to know where his father was going and what he intended to do. He hoped his father could find redemption instead of wandering the world of the living as a spirit.

Darion followed his father's spirit all the way to Tirisfal Glades, the Scarlet Crusade's territory. To his confusion, his father's spirit vanished as soon as it arrived. But Darion understood that his father must have had a reason for coming here, so he wandered the Scarlet Crusade's lands, hoping the spirit would appear again.

Darion's presence on Scarlet Crusade territory could hardly escape Reno, the Crusade's second-in-command. Reno hesitated. Should he act as if nothing had happened and embrace his "dear" younger brother after all this time, or should he finish things once and for all and kill him?
