That was assuming nothing unexpected happened.
A certain scumbag silently moved Orphis's little hand off his thigh, then met Ereshkigal's icy gaze with an awkward yet polite smile.
"You really are still as full of nonsense as ever."
Having seen in Uruk and High School DxD how he had used information gaps and sheer nerve to run circles around the world's top fighters, Ereshkigal unconsciously tightened her grip on the lantern.
"But what I'm about to say is absolutely true." Never one to lie about his feelings, the young man walked over to Ereshkigal's side and stood shoulder to shoulder with her as he spoke.
"What is it?"
Though she was furious, Ereshkigal had not lost her basic judgment and decided to hear what kind of explanation this guy could offer.
"I like you. And I want to find a place with beautiful scenery and hold our wedding there."
Though his understanding of love was somewhat lacking, the young man had clearly felt his heart flutter around Ereshkigal, and his words abruptly stunned the goddess beside him.
"While clumsy girls, tsunderes, yanderes, airheads, ice queens, and maid types can all be quite charming, if you want to settle down and build a family, shouldn't you choose someone gentler? Ereshkigal, you're so beautiful and so gentle. You're practically the ideal wife."
Though he liked gentle girls, the young man was not particularly picky as he described his view of the Underworld Goddess.
"Y-you... you're talking nonsense again!"
"I don't have a habit of talking nonsense."
"Y-you've deceived so many people, Zihan. Th-there's no reason to trust you at all."
"You should know that I don't lie about my feelings."
Feeling the reassuring presence of the young man beside her, Ereshkigal's heart had already begun to waver, yet her words remained unrelenting.
