Background / History

Zhao Gongming was born as a wisp of Clear Wind beneath Mount Buzhou. After ten thousand years of cultivation, he transformed into human form, entered Biyou Palace, and became a disciple of Sect Master Tongtian. 1

He later awakened from memories of a mortal life on Earth, which merged with his immortal memories. Knowing that his destined future was to die in the Investiture of the Gods and lose both his cultivation and the Sea-Calming Divine Pearls, he resolved to defy that fate. 1

A Primordial Deduction System bound to him at the time of his awakening. Its Beginner's Gift Pack supplied Primordial Points and a preliminary Foundation-deduction opportunity, beginning his rapid reconstruction of his foundation, cultivation method, spiritual root, and treasures. 1 2

Zhao Gongming is generally depicted as a composed Daoist in sect robes. During cultivation breakthroughs, his bearing visibly changes with the quality of his power. 10 13

Personality

Zhao Gongming is approachable and restrained around most of the outer sect disciples. Though some disciples dismiss him because he was formed from Clear Wind, he no longer concerns himself with empty reputation or status. 3

His overriding motivation is survival. The knowledge of his future death makes him relentlessly ambitious, but he usually favors calculated advancement over reckless conflict. He avoids indiscriminate killing because of its karmic consequences, seeks opportunities in ancient ruins and secret realms, and keeps the System's existence concealed. 1 9 20

He is deeply protective of the Jiejiao Sect and the San Xiao. Insults against his sect can overcome his usual restraint, as shown when he defeated Chi Xiazi and Mingguang Daoist after they disparaged the Intercepting Sect. 15 16 He privately vows to protect Yunxiao, Qiongxiao, and Bixiao from their known future fates in the Great Tribulation. 13
