"Oh?"
The Undefeated Immortal Venerable looked intrigued. He lifted his teacup and took a small sip. "Let me guess who it is. There were plenty of losers who suffered crushing defeats at my hands back then."
"Could it be that Profound Maiden from the Lower Realm who couldn't withstand three moves from me? Or that kid from the Heavenly Secret Pavilion who was blown apart with a single punch? Or perhaps that junior, Gou Yuan, whom I killed with one palm strike?!"
"Sorry, there were simply too many people who besieged me back then. I truly can't remember their names. The ones I can recall were all peerless geniuses who could barely withstand one or two moves from me."
"Or are you talking about the elders of your sect who attacked me? Their cultivation may have been surpassed by mine later on, but I have to say, as old fossils, they were indeed harder to kill than the youngsters. They had all sorts of tricks, and kept me entertained for quite a while."
"If it hadn't been for them, I wouldn't have expended so much of my strength..."
At that, the Undefeated Immortal Venerable smiled. "I've just thought of someone else: that white-robed brat who tried to take my life while I was down."
"That fellow was really hard to kill. I'd been fighting for too long and had expended too much strength; in the short term, I truly didn't have much power left to take him down. No wonder he was a top successor from that peak."
"Considering what he managed to do against Young Heaven, he certainly lived up to his name as a successor."
"He was the one I admired most. In the end, he'd rather self-destruct than let me escape. Unfortunately, I survived all the same.
