His eyes swept over an afterimage. Before anyone could react, pain flashed through his neck! The Monsters were simply too fast; no one's eyes could keep up with their movements!
In an instant, several mercenaries who had pushed slightly ahead were breached by the Dancer Monsters in the middle of firing. Their sharp nails pierced faces or slashed open carotid arteries, killing four of them on the spot!
"SHIT!" Tra was instantly enraged. There were so few mercenaries left, yet four had just died right then and there!
But no one could be blamed for being slow. The Monsters moved quickly, but their surroundings were also problematic. Everything was pitch-black, and they could only observe the Monsters through night-vision goggles.
"Bang! Bang!" Tra took out Illumination Flares and fired two into the air, then shouted, "Watch your surroundings! Form defensive squads!"
Mercenaries generally fought in squads, which made both attack and defense more effective. They had originally formed a semicircular defense, but at Tra's shout, they gathered into separate groups and worked together to defend themselves.
The two Illumination Flares shot into the air, and Tra simultaneously ordered all the mercenaries to greet the enemy with grenades, throwing them straight ahead! Their vision cleared once more. They pushed up their night-vision goggles and could see directly with their eyes, much better than through the goggles.
Although all the mercenaries had been trained to use night-vision goggles, they were ultimately only auxiliary equipment, and viewing through them was still different. Their field of view was narrow and entirely green, unlike normal vision, so everyone remained somewhat unaccustomed to them.
