Tina had wanted to use her Mental Power to entangle the incoming Mental Power. If possible, she would directly strike back with her Mental Power and make it suffer a hidden loss.
But she had not expected that Mental Power to react so quickly. Just as Tina's Spirit Stab was about to make contact, it abruptly withdrew at incredible speed, leaving Tina feeling as though she could not react in time.
It was like driving toward each other. Tina had intended to cause a car crash, but the other side had turned around and run away the moment it spotted her from afar. Moreover, it was more familiar with the environment than Tina was, so she could not catch up.
What she had not expected was for that Mental Power to react this way. Shouldn't it have sought her out and clashed with her? Speechless, Tina could only complain inwardly. Perhaps whoever was behind this had about the same level of control over Mental Power as she did. Otherwise, it would not have retreated the instant it sensed her Mental Power.
"Captain! What's wrong?" Yam asked as he stepped forward after seeing Tina's slightly dazed expression.
Tina shook her head and said, "Nothing. I just thought of something and considered it for a moment."
She did not want to explain anything about the Mental Power from earlier. After answering Yam, she took the piece of jade from her pocket—the key—and inserted it into the keyhole on the side of the gate.
As the key went in, the sounds of mechanisms turning rang out with a series of clacks. The ground trembled faintly, and the gate slowly rose. The entire Ventilation Gate opened!
But as the gate opened, everyone exclaimed, "Eh?"
As the gate rose, the passage gradually began to brighten.
