Rhine's team gradually reached the area where the drones always malfunctioned. The electronic equipment they carried also began failing there.
Even with relay equipment, their contact with the people above at the cave entrance came and went. The transmissions were constantly filled with all kinds of static, making the signals impossible to hear clearly.
