The mountains in the space began responding to the shrill cries. Various mournful calls echoed back and forth, growing ever more piercing and grating.
Gradually, the shrill cries rose and fell without pause, making everyone increasingly restless.
The six of them watched their surroundings from every direction. Though they could hear the cries, they did not see any birds flying toward them.
Zhou Ziyun shouted from the front of the group, "Stay close and charge forward together! Once we reach the far end of the bridge, there'll be nothing to worry about, no matter what it is."
Everyone answered in unison, then accelerated and prepared to rush toward the far end of the Stone Bridge.
But things did not always unfold as they expected. Instead, they often developed in uncertain directions. Just as they set off in a charge, gusts of fierce wind came rushing at them from behind.
They heard people shouting from the end of the bridge where they had started. "Careful! There are Strange Birds in the air!"
Feeling the fierce wind behind them, the six immediately ducked forward and turned around. They saw enormous Strange Birds swooping toward them, their long beaks nearly piercing their backs.
Boom! A huge fireball exploded directly between the Strange Birds and the six of them, blocking their attack.
Yet just as they were about to hit the fireball, the strange birds spread their wings and flashed past the scorching flames of the explosion, continuing their charge toward the group.
These monstrous birds looked somewhat like vultures, but they were far more vicious and much larger. Their Wingspans were around four meters, while their bodies were nearly two meters long.
Vultures had hooked beaks that allowed them to tear apart carrion. But these Strange Birds had long beaks like blades—sharp, pointed,
