The branches caught fire, and the flames only grew fiercer. But after the branches lashed back and forth twice, all the flames were brought under control and extinguished.

Miller and them remained grim-faced, standing ready for battle as they continued reinforcing the Protective Shield.

Sun-Snatcher, along with several Black Non-humans, continued gathering a fireball in his hands. It had once again reached a diameter of over two meters. Its orange-red glow illuminated the surroundings, even dimming the green light and forcing it to yield to the orange-red radiance.

With a shout of "Hey!", Sun-Snatcher threw both hands forward, and the fireball flew along his intended path toward the main trunk of one tree spirit.

At the same time, another Black Non-human team beside him combined their Alien Energy to form a fireball over two meters in diameter. It too was launched toward the trunk of another tree spirit.

The two fireballs flew almost side by side at great speed, but the tree spirits reacted quickly as well. Almost the instant the fireballs were thrown, shields formed from branches appeared before them.

With two booms, the Combustion Explosions ignited the branches, but the fireballs also shrank. The collision had consumed some of their energy, naturally reducing their size considerably.

Yet the branches had paid no small price as well. The shields made of several branches had been ignited by the fireballs. Even after the branches whipped back and forth to extinguish the flames, parts of them had already turned to charcoal, no longer retaining their former flexibility or defensive power.
