The Black Shadow looked humanoid and stood about two meters tall. Compared to the Strange Beasts, however, he seemed very short. After all, the Strange Beasts crouching around the bridgehead were nearly ten meters tall even while lying on the ground.
Yet despite their enormous size and terrifying appearances—enough for anyone to know they were not to be provoked—they seemed weak, pitiful, and helpless before the Black Shadow, who was less than two meters tall. Trembling, they did not dare raise their heads.
One could imagine just how imposing this Black Shadow was. It truly showed that a mountain need not be high to be famous if it has immortals, and water need not be deep to be sacred if it has dragons.
For some unknown reason, it was impossible to make out what the Shadow Man was wearing, or even see his face clearly. His entire body seemed pitch black, like nothing more than a pitch black shadow.
No sound came from the valley, the dried-up lake, or the many Strange Beasts near the bridgehead. Only the sound of the Unicorn Strange Beast running echoed far through the waterless gorge.
Amid the pattering sounds, the Unicorn Strange Beast did not dare delay and rushed toward the bridgehead. However, when it passed the circular black hole at the lake bottom, it paused for several seconds before carefully circling around it, as though something within terrified it.
