"The Mist Ninja have split up. It must be two Jonin going after Captain Kakashi. The rest are still chasing us... Damn it, what's wrong with these Mist Ninja? Why are they on our heels and refusing to let up?"
Hyuga Akiba saw the twenty Mist Ninja close behind them and felt a wave of despair. They were pressing too hard, and they were faster than the three of them. The distance between them was shrinking by the second.
"Something's wrong. There's definitely something wrong."
Uchiha Aika furrowed her brows and murmured as she analyzed the situation, "The Mist Ninja didn't join forces to surround Captain Kakashi. Instead, they're relentlessly pursuing us. That's not normal!"

The value of killing an elite Jonin like Hatake Kakashi far outweighed that of killing the three of them. If Uchiha Aika were in the Mist Ninja's shoes, she would have focused all her efforts on surrounding Hatake Kakashi first.
But the Mist Ninja had chosen to split up, sending only two Jonin after Hatake Kakashi while the rest of their forces continued to pursue the three of them.
"The Mist Ninja are after one of us."
That was the conclusion Uchiha Aika had reached after thinking it over.
Nohara Rin's face paled at her words. Confusion filled her expression as she blurted out, "But what could they possibly want from us?"
"I don't know."
Uchiha Aika shook her head grimly. "It could be my eyes, or it could be Akiba... Either way, following Captain Kakashi's orders, I'm next to stay behind. We should be able to figure out what they're after from their reaction."
She suspected the Mist Ninja had set their sights on her Sharingan.
