He Was Just a Child

"Did you get a bad feeling when you saw him?" There was a hint of doubt in the Third Hokage's voice.

However, he merely made his voice sound that way. In truth, he already had some guesses about what had happened to Danzo.

Danzo's temperament was certainly unpleasant, but not enough for Sasuke Uchiha to bring it up so solemnly and cautiously.

"His arm, and... his eyes," Sasuke Uchiha said slowly.

"The places wrapped in bandages made me feel especially..."

Sasuke Uchiha fell silent for a moment, seemingly choosing his words and considering how to describe the feeling Danzo gave him.

That was one of the village's Elders. If he spoke honestly and the man happened to return, wouldn't he hear everything? Even with Lord Hokage here...

"Disgust?"

He muttered softly, shook his head, and said:

"Maybe it's rejection. My body, my mind, is rejecting those places..."

"I was just a child. What kind of monster destroyed the village!"

"Sasuke? What's wrong?" The Third Hokage looked at Sasuke, who had yet to finish the food before him, and set down his chopsticks as well. He immediately realized that their time to chat was likely coming to an end.

"Konoha will suffer again. It will be destroyed again. You learned an incomplete Flying Thunder God Technique, but did you learn the Sealing Technique the Fourth Hokage used to finally seal the Four-Tails?"

But after Yuuhi Kurenai appeared, Shiranui Genma and the others seemed somewhat less enthusiastic. When he once again had to face homework he could not understand a single word of, he could not help missing the days when he lived alone.

But he could not say those things to Sasuke. He could not let that child know that the village had played a part in everything the Uchiha Clan
