The building complex of the city of the dead appeared on the horizon ahead.
Yang Ming controlled the stealth boat, lowering its altitude and gliding forward, almost brushing against the ripples of the sand dunes. The originally deep blue coating outside had turned a dusty yellow.
One hundred and sixty ferocious pirates were currently divided into two groups, searching this city for Kolev's treasure.
They had already found some clues.
This made both sides very excited.
Over a dozen landing crafts circled in the air, their ground and air-to-air weapons illuminated, providing cover for the infantry teams raiding below.
Several assault vehicles were also driving through the desert within the city, and Yang Ming's main target this time, Gimo, was in one of those assault vehicles.
"I'll release the drones."
Kolev muttered in a low voice. He lightly tapped the screen in front of him, and several fist-sized spheres appeared from the tail of the stealth boat, quickly circling towards the city ahead.
The stealth boat slowed down, approaching the city's edge smoothly and hiding in the shadow of a tall building.
Yang Ming pulled down the zipper of his jacket, revealing the high-end combat suit that fit his muscles underneath.
It was the set Milili had given him.
There were several clasps on the combat suit's waist, where Yang Ming had currently attached two lightsabers, a first aid capsule, an emergency nano-space suit, two high-power laser gun energy magazines, and the laser pistol enthusiastically donated by the deceased bald warden of Kor Port Prison.
Putting on the thick helmet that protected his brain and slinging the tactical backpack filled with throwing weapons onto his back, Yang Ming finally picked up the laser gun by his leg.
Kolev pressed a few buttons, and a bat-shaped hoverboard popped out from under the stealth boat. The scissor door next to Yang Ming slowly lifted.
Yang Ming glanced at Kolev.
Kolev immediately noticed that the young warrior seemed nervous, after all, there were over 150 ferocious villains ahead.
He needed to encourage Hanton.
"Han..."
Yang Ming's eyes lit up as he asked, "Cool, right? My gear."
Kolev, who was about to speak, almost choked.
Yang Ming smiled and asked, "Are there any of them who need to be kept alive? I won't hold back."
Kolev hesitated for a moment, but still shook his head.
"If I fall into Gimo's hands, no one here will plead for me.
"You're right, Hanton. My subordinates are now my enemies, and against enemies, there is only conquest and destruction.
"Be careful, young captain."
Yang Ming clicked down his goggles and leaped out of the airship, landing steadily on the hoverboard. He crouched down, pushing off with his feet. The sensitive hoverboard accelerated forward with a faint hum, quickly gliding into the city ruins.
Kolev stared at Yang Ming's retreating back and couldn't help but murmur to himself.
"Perhaps I should let Milili understand Hanton's value more directly."
He glanced at the recording option on the drone control interface. Kolev hesitated for a moment but did not enable the recording function.
When he looked up again, Yang Ming's figure could no longer be seen.
"Remember to report your position at all times, Kolev."
Yang Ming's voice echoed in the headset. Kolev methodically operated the drones, quickly organizing the overall information and sending it to Yang Ming's goggles.
These pirates were quite well-trained.
Their advance through the city ruins was orderly, and their coordination was quite good. As they searched the entire city, they continuously occupied various vantage points.
"They have a few life detectors, Hanton," Kolev reminded him. "If you stay in one spot for too long, you'll be easily exposed."
Yang Ming responded with a sound and, after a moment of thought, maneuvered his hoverboard into the middle position between the two pirate groups, occupying advantageous terrain on the edge.
Falling directly into an enemy encirclement was an extremely unwise move.
He had other ideas.
Yang Ming reached back into the side pocket of his backpack and took out a second tactical headset, clipping it to his left ear. He said in a low voice, "Kolev, let me hear what the other side is saying."
"That's simple... Which side should I connect to?"
"Gimo on the left ear, Guka on the right."
Kolev was stunned for three seconds, then quickly gave Yang Ming feedback.
Won't that be confusing?
Yang Ming soon heard the communications from both sides. Guka's side was relatively quiet, with only simple and concise search responses;
Gimo's side was more complex, with a dozen people speaking continuously, occasionally interspersed with a few curses.
"Boss, we've indeed found our gang's markings, and these markings look at least a few years old. The direction they point is towards Guka's side, they got the jump on us."
"Damn it! This is Guka's loyalty to me! Just you wait, I'll make him pay!"
"Boss! Team Two is about to encounter them!"
"Let them evade for now and give Guka a chance," Gimo said coldly. "The choice is his now, but the initiative is mine. If they dare to provoke me, I'll slaughter them all! I guarantee it!"
Several captains on Gimo's side immediately chimed in agreement.
Ah, pirate flattery.
Yang Ming listened carefully for a while, his eyes constantly scanning the information projected onto his goggles. A solid plan was already forming in his mind.
While Gimo's side was happily chatting, he tapped his left earpiece and cursed in his slightly rough voice with urgency, "Damn it! They're insulting me! I saw their lips move!"
He immediately turned off his microphone.
No one responded to him.
Yang Ming raised an eyebrow and tapped his right earpiece, whispering, "Position twelve, they're trying to flank us."
After turning off his microphone, he waited quietly for a moment. A few of the red dots projected on his goggles began to move towards 'position twelve'.
Yang Ming tapped his left earpiece: "Boss, they're suddenly charging towards us."
"Target them first!" Gimo roared. "The nearby teams, go take a look. If they dare to attack me, I'll kill them!"
Yang Ming tapped his right earpiece: "They're trying to take the high ground."
"Get the landing craft ready," Guka's voice suddenly sounded. "Gimo never trusted us. If he kills us, his men will get double the wealth. Conversely, we're the same. This treasure is enough for all of us to retire."
Yang Ming used a flustered tone: "They're targeting me! Damn it! They're going to kill me!"
He immediately switched to a calm voice: "They've formed an attack formation, they're about to open fire, I see they've disengaged the safety."
Then, Yang Ming began switching back and forth, his head turning left and right, ensuring he wouldn't mix up his 'personas'.
"They're trying to surround us!"
"Position six has been taken by them."
"Damn it, they're going for our rear!"
"Are they going to attack? They're provoking you! Boss!"
"Kolev's wealth is enough to buy half the planet, they've lost their minds!"
"All ships, activate shields!" Gimo roared.
Yang Ming: "Oh! Their ships have activated their shields! Everyone find cover, they're definitely going to attack! Don't give them a chance for air-to-ground attacks! Load the landing craft cannons!"
"Calm down! Everyone stay calm!" Guka shouted in a low voice.
"Don't rush, my lads," Gimo said gravely. "I'm the Group Leader, I have to give them a chance, but if they dare to fire the first shot..."
The middle levels of the empty skyscrapers.
Yang Ming disengaged the safety on his laser gun, checked the power meter, and pushed open a gap in the glass window beside him.
Turning, he held the gun in a standing position, his body hidden behind the curtains. The pupils behind his goggles reflected two pirates crawling on the roof diagonally below.
Pew pew!
Yang Ming pulled the trigger without hesitation. The laser gun's muzzle moved in less than a second, and the two pirates fell to the ground, clutching their thighs and letting out cries of pain.
Yang Ming turned and ran, ending the three-way communication with two dramatic shouts:
"Damn it! They made the first move!"
"Kill them!"
Yang Ming calmly removed his right earpiece.
At this moment, the communication channels on both sides were in an uproar.
"Ah! My leg! My leg's been shot through!"
"Bring the airship over! Guka, that bastard actually made the first move! He's provoking me! I will kill him!"
"Counterattack! Counterattack!"
"The despicable Guka wants to hoard the treasure for himself! It belongs to all of us!"
Pew pew pew!
More than a dozen laser beams appeared in the corners of the city, and an airship in the sky activated its cannons, a string of thick laser rounds leaving dazzling trajectories in the sky.
Just as Yang Ming crashed through a window and jumped to the adjacent building, several missiles whistled past overhead. These missiles were all destroyed by targeted laser fire, exploding into bursts of fireworks.
Most of the landing craft descended to a lower altitude, using the buildings for cover, while a few that attempted to climb and gain a height advantage became targets.
In the thin atmosphere, five pirate ships simultaneously activated their shields and began a naval gun duel.
The pirates' civil war had officially begun!
Yang Ming calmly said, "Now can you give me Gimo's location, First Mate Kolev."
Kolev: ...
What had he just witnessed?
Were all his former subordinates idiots?
Kolev's voice was somewhat muffled: "Do they really want my treasure that badly?"
"No, Kolev, that's just a secondary cause."
Yang Ming hid in the corner of a concrete wall, his eyes fixed on the red dot representing Gimo on the map displayed in his goggles.
Yang Ming chuckled, "The primary cause is your death."
"I'm dead?"
"Who do you think would go to prison to buy your life? And why were you caught during a routine transaction?"
Yang Ming spoke softly:
"Milili's expulsion was also a meticulously planned scheme. Milili's personal charm is quite good, and she had so many loyal elders supporting her.
"They didn't kill Milili because they feared you were still alive and that prison couldn't hold you. So, they decided to use the prison authorities to get rid of you. That makes sense. If you died in prison, Milili's ship would inevitably be attacked.
"You were like a stone, pressing down on the Black Dragon group, which should have fallen apart long ago. Gimo, Guka, and the others who ignored Milili's expulsion all needed to band together to resist the pressure from you.
"Now, in their eyes, you're dead, and you've left behind your treasure.
"You understand all this, Kolev, but you chose not to believe it from the very beginning."
"Sigh."
Kolev sounded somewhat dispirited. He said in a low voice, "That's right, none of them respect each other... Actually, if I had faked my death, they would have definitely started fighting amongst themselves."
"Alright, Kolev," Yang Ming said, "Pirate crews are like this. They are villains, not knights. Let them unleash their desires here. I'm going to deal with Gimo. Lina and the others should be arriving soon. Make sure Number Two hides well."
"He's entered the building near you," Kolev said. "Be careful, his strength is immense. I just filmed him with a drone; he's already started putting on an exoskeleton. That suit has the power to counter small warships."
Yang Ming grunted, then darted out of the corner, using the windowsill to vault out and land steadily on a hoverboard. He sped towards the wreckage of a skyscraper a hundred meters away.
Gimo's assault vehicle was parked outside the building, and Gimo himself was currently in the first-floor lobby.
Yang Ming continuously raised his Laser Gun, and the beams he fired always accurately hit the pirates who seemed to appear out of nowhere, leaving behind a few scorched holes in their skulls.
Gimo and his men noticed the anomaly on the side of the building.
"Boss! Team Six is under attack! No response at all."
"A high-speed target is approaching us, it's a biological target! It must be a solo flight suit!"
"Did Guka hire mercenaries?" Gimo roared, panting heavily. "Hurry up and activate my mech! I'm going to kill all these bastards!"
"It's already activated! Boss... uh... uh..."
Whoosh!
The pirate's voice cut off abruptly.
The middle-aged man with tattoos on his face tried to look down at his throat, but his neck, pierced by a laser beam, couldn't complete the movement. He could only see a crater appearing on the wall in front of him, with a wisp of white smoke rising from it.
Pew pew pew!
Several figures fell simultaneously. A passive-triggered Energy Shield appeared behind Gimo, ripples faintly appearing on its surface.
Gimo, encased in his 'shell,' spun around violently, just in time to see several rapidly enlarging black dots.
Shock grenades!
Almost instinctively, Gimo raised his hands to protect his head, crouching as low as possible. His chest, back, and both sides of his arms lit up with oval-shaped, earth-yellow energy shields!
