Lightning Beast
Bi Fan raised his head and watched the gray clouds gathering overhead, growing thicker and heavier from a tiny wisp.
In less than half an hour, the dense black clouds had completely blotted out the dim starlight cast down from some distant place. Within them, thick silver-white lightning bolts flashed back and forth.
Bi Fan gazed at the familiar light, his expression calm and composed. For five years, he had watched the lightning here. At last, he had gradually sensed the Spirit Refining Star Tome hidden within this void.
As bolt after bolt of lightning crashed down with savage force, Bi Fan charged forward instead of retreating.
Feeling wisps of rich soul energy emanating from the lightning, the corners of his mouth lifted in a faint smile.
Everything was just as he had guessed.
In the blink of an eye, he passed through the clouds for the first time and arrived at the place he had never reached but had always planned to enter—the inside of the clouds, where the lightning dwelled.
The moment he entered the cloud layer, he felt as if he were sinking into a swamp. A tremendous force dragged him downward, as if it meant to swallow him whole.
Fortunately, he had not rushed in recklessly. Sensing something amiss, he immediately wrapped his spirit body in soul energy and desperately struggled against the force pulling him down.
For a time, the two forces were locked in a stalemate. A soft, bewildered "Huh?" sounded around Bi Fan.
Overjoyed at the sound, he immediately used his Soul Power to slowly lift the golden dragon scale that had been hanging against his body.
As he poured his strength into it, his figure gradually steadied, and he gained the upper hand in their tug-of-war.
