A Compromise
Bi Fan furrowed his brow, looking a little puzzled as he asked softly, "Senior, may I ask what you mean by inevitability?"
Xuan He's brows knitted slightly, then quickly relaxed. He smiled faintly and said, "You can think of it as a cycle of fate."
"A cycle of fate?" He paused, seeming to understand a little, but the questions that followed only multiplied.
With his hands clasped behind his back, Xuan He's violet-gold eyes shone like brilliant stars in the night sky. He patiently explained, "Simply put, it's the same principle the ancients spoke of: when something reaches its peak, it must decline; when the moon is full, it begins to wane."
Bi Fan hesitated, frowning, then asked what was on his mind. "But you mean this decline is inevitable. Still, decline and annihilation aren't the same thing. Why did you leave a prophecy thousands upon thousands of years ago that the Dragon Clan would be destroyed?"
"Heh heh. One day, when you cultivate to my level, you'll understand why." Xuan He's voice was gentle and soothing as he said with a smile, "There are many things you don't understand now simply because the time hasn't come for you to see them clearly."
The profound words left Bi Fan utterly bewildered. After thinking for a long while, he still had no idea how to respond, so he could only remain silent.
Seeing this, Xuan He smiled and asked, "Young one, do you think the Dragon Clan is powerful?"
"Mm." He nodded almost without hesitation. He had no doubts about the strength of this undisputed leader among the Ten Great Yao Races.
The gentle smile on Xuan He's face remained, but a complicated look of rueful emotion flickered through his bright eyes. He said softly, "When a clan grows
