Bi Fan's Soul Power clearly sensed that the little fellow's aura had grown much stronger. To resist the seal, it was giving everything it had.
At that moment, the mark on Xuan Chen's palm was gradually winding around the seal not far from them, guided by his movements. With Little Dragon Cub resisting with all its might, the black lines seemed to loosen ever so slightly. Beyond that, however, nothing else changed.
Half an incense stick later, the mark had begun to fade. The seal had only shuddered a few times, though; it still clung fast around the Dragon Vein's fortune beneath it.
Xuan Chen refused to give up. His expression grave, he forced a mouthful of blood essence from his chest and infused it into the mark. This time, the seal trembled more visibly, but after shaking for a while, it went still again.
The purple hue on Little Dragon Cub gradually faded, and its body shrank rapidly.
It had little strength to begin with. That burst of effort had pushed it past its limits. The faint purple that had still been visible had nearly vanished. Only after staring closely for a while could one catch a trace of it flickering within.
Xuan Chen sighed. He knew he had failed, and his face grew unbearably solemn. Without the aid of a source of life, breaking the seal was simply too difficult.
Bi Fan's Sea of Soul clearly caught the change in his expression. He asked softly, "How about letting me give it a try?"
Xuan Chen smiled bitterly. "Lord Bi Fan, you're not in good shape, and you don't know much about the seal. I'm afraid there's little hope."
"Still, we have to try. But first, I need to call over a helper."
