A Plot in the Making
Beneath the tranquil night sky, moonlight flowed like water over this peaceful yet perilous land. A black figure slipped silently through the shadows. He had concealed his presence perfectly; unless he brazenly stood beneath the moonlight, no one would discover him.
But to be safe, he had already spread his immense spiritual power across the surrounding dozens of miles. His gaze remained cool and alert as he keenly observed his surroundings.
As he darted past a certain place, a glimpse of what lay there made him show a flash of surprise.
"What's that..." Bi Fan furrowed his brow instinctively. Pushing off the ground with his toes, he hurried toward it.
At his startled cry, Xuan Chen's figure drifted out of his Sea of Soul. Seeing the corpses scattered across the ground, all utterly still, his expression darkened slightly. "It seems the Devil Race has been killed."
Bi Fan knew these were the people who had earlier obeyed the white-clad man's orders and pursued Ling Xiaoxiao and the others. Their deaths weren't anything to mourn. What unsettled him was the fear that a familiar face might be among the corpses—which would mean another of his companions had fallen here.
With a heavy heart and a trace of apprehension, Bi Fan stepped forward and examined them closely, turning over each body that lay face down. Fortunately, there wasn't a single face he recognized.
