Sky Covering Peak

Seeing how mysterious he was acting, Chu Qingjue looked a little puzzled, but she followed him into the dense forest without hesitation.

Beneath the night sky, the bright, clear moonlight spilled like water, casting mottled shadows through the trees. Bi Fan and Chu Qingjue darted swiftly among them, their steps light and nimble thanks to their considerable cultivation.

Suddenly, Bi Fan, who was walking ahead, stopped and looked up thoughtfully.

Chu Qingjue paused. "Have we reached our destination?"

He came back to himself and smiled at her. "We need to conceal our auras. Otherwise, those fellows will slip away before we even get close."

"What exactly are we looking for?" Chu Qingjue asked with a slight furrow in her brow, unable to help feeling curious.

Bi Fan smiled. "No need to rush. You'll find out soon."

Chu Qingjue folded her arms across her chest, wearing a serious expression. Clearly, she wanted to see what kind of trick he was up to.

Standing still, Bi Fan reached into his clothes and took out a small, white, oval fruit, smooth and lustrous as jade. A faint, delicate fragrance drifted away on the breeze.

"What's that?" she asked, her brow slightly furrowed.

Bi Fan smiled. "This is an Azure Jade Fruit, a medicinal ingredient. It's quite alluring to most Wild Spirit Beasts. All I have to do is spread its scent, and it'll draw in our prey."

Chu Qingjue was a little speechless. He was actually using a medicinal ingredient just to catch a few Wild Spirit Beasts for food. As expected of an alchemist—what extravagance.

She didn't say anything, though, and silently watched him. When he rubbed his fingertips together and a wisp of pitch-black flame, radiating an aura of annihilation, appeared, her eyes instantly grew dark and deep.
