Dragon's Pool and Tiger's Den
Amid a vast stretch of ancient, uninhabited mountains, a figure dressed in black darted swiftly through the shadows between the cliffs.
That figure was Bi Fan. After discovering that the Devil Race might be plotting something, he had no choice but to venture deeper into Sky Covering Peak. But investigating in secret under the Devil Race's noses was no easy task.
After weighing his options again and again, he could only take the risk himself. By impersonating the Devil Race member he had slain and blending into their ranks, he could learn more about their secrets.
It was an undoubtedly dangerous gamble. If his true identity were exposed after he fell into the Devil Race's lair, death would be all but certain.
But he had no other choice. If he didn't investigate, and the Devil Race were allowed to lay a Heavenly Net in the most secret depths, then he wouldn't be the only one to die.
Bi Fan had no desire to become some great hero who saved the world. He simply couldn't stand by and watch the elite disciples of the Human Race and Demon Race fall, every last one of them, into the Devil Race's hands.
So, using the disguise technique he'd learned back in the Chaos Starfield, he altered his face and features until they closely resembled those of the dead young Devil Race member. Unless someone had been very close to the young man, it would be extremely difficult to tell that Bi Fan was an impostor.
Thus, he moved through the mountain forest in a manner that looked much like the original, aiming to make contact with the other Devil Race member closest to him.
The Man in Black seemed to have been waiting there for quite some time.
